iN CASE OF EMERGENCY, BE PREPARED

If you become injured and unconscious, first responders will immediately check your driver's license to ID you and contact your family.

Not everyone has family, but if you do, they may be at work or shopping.  To reach them immediately ICE, cut a piece of plain card stock from your mail or your file folder .  Make it about 2 inches wide and 3/4 of an inch high.  Neatly print ICE, the name you want contacted, relationship, and CELL PHONE NUMBER.  Scotch tape it to the top back of your driver's license, top only, so it can be flipped up to see back side of your license clearly.  NOW you are covered.

Now see, I did all that when I first tipped over...  I STILL have a MedAlert tag on my watch that has a QR code on the back that will take you to a website with all my vitals and meds, and who to notify.

Till an EMT friend of mine laughed out loud at it. He said everyone would be too busy kickin my azz to make my lungs work, to worry about any of that crap... And when you get to the ER, chances are it will get torn off of me and thrown in a bucket with the rest of my stuff... No one will pay it any mind until it gets handed off to the humanities staff, which by that time, the deal is way done, one way or the other.

FAR better to sign HIPPA at any major hospital you are likely to wind up at, with a note in the file to gain access to the hospital where your records reside. Then all you need to do is make sure that hospital remains up to date.

As in "In Case of Emergency".
It's been around longer than the current trend in immigration enforcement.
