(EXCERPT)

Nearly 22 years after Scott Peterson was found guilty of murdering his pregnant wife, his legal team says "new evidence" could help overturn his conviction.

The 53-year-old's attorneys with the Los Angeles Innocence Project (LAIP) say they've uncovered what they argue is new evidence that could undermine one of America's most infamous murder convictions. They detail their findings in A&E's new two-part docuseries, "Scott Peterson: The New Evidence."

"When you initially have a missing person's case, there are certain protocols, certain things that must be done, and that is to follow up on every possible lead to determine when and where the missing person was last seen," Ninette Toosbuy, a retired LAPD detective who appears in the documentary, told Fox News Digital.

I remember this from when I was a teenager. Lots of women screaming and demanding Peterson's head. I also remember the stories the Modesto police told were constantly changing.

The only physical evidence in the case was a single strand of hair.  :wtf:

I vaguely remember the movie, i think Dean Cain played Peterson.
In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

The Detective describes what is supposed to happen in an investigation, but almost never does.  Once police find a suspect they think they can hang a Conviction on, they stop looking at other suspects and concentrate on filling in the boxes on the existing suspect.

There is an ex-cop on YouTube who refers to this phenomenon as "Cop Bias". It was one of the reasons he quit law enforcement.

Instead of using the evidence to come to a conclusion , they make a conclusion and then search for evidence to support it.

I remember when Laci Peterson disappeared.  When you consider all the facts in the case, IMHO, he was guilty as hell, and he should have been executed long ago.  Scott Peterson is as guilty as they get.

The motive is perhaps the most compelling reason.  He was having an affair with another woman while his wife was pregnant.  He repeatedly lied to everyone in his life as the evidence showed.  He is guilty.

Again, we have become totally stupid as a people.  Capital punishment serves a function that we no longer employ across the nation, but it should be re-instituted, with far more crimes being eligible.

For me, individuals sexually assualting children under the age of 12 should be dispatched versus returning them after a few years to terrorize society.  Total insane in my opinion.  In a nation of 350 million people, we would have a deterrent to crime if we used capital punishment in an effective way.  In 1971, the average stay on death row was 14.5 years.  Today, it is 24.5 years.  Not executing these people swiftly has removed any hope of deterrence.  And I also believe by not having public executions, it also minimizes the impact of the execution in terms of deterrence.

Peterson was guilty as charged!

The person that was NOT GUILTY was Derek Chauvin.  He did not kill George Floyd and there is plenty of evidence to that fact, yet the man sits in prison for doing his damn job.  Minnesota has become a dark stain on the American experience!

When you consider all the facts in the case...

Please state the facts that prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Peterson murdered his wife. I'm interested in your facts about this.

The key pieces of evidence presented at his 2004 trial included:

The Location of the Bodies: In April 2003, the remains of Laci Peterson and her unborn son, Conner, washed ashore in the San Francisco Bay, about a mile from where Scott Peterson admitted to taking a solo fishing trip on the day she disappeared.

The Unreported Fishing Trip: Investigators discovered Peterson purchased a boat shortly before the disappearance and did not have a valid fishing license, raising suspicion about his sudden interest in fishing on Christmas Eve.

Suspicious Behavior and Flight Risk: Prior to his arrest, Peterson altered his appearance by dyeing his hair blonde, and was apprehended near the Mexican border in San Diego. In his vehicle, police found camping gear, nearly $15,000 in cash, multiple cell phones, and his brother's identification.

Secret Affair: The prosecution heavily highlighted his extramarital affair with Amber Frey, using it to establish a motive that Peterson wanted to rid himself of his family life.Lack of Forensics: The case notoriously lacked direct evidence—there was no murder weapon, no DNA placing Laci in his truck or boat, and no identified crime scene.

The above is a listing from a Google search.  As in most murders, motive is a prime consideration, and he definitely had motive with the extramarital affair.  Just my point of view, but a person that is willing to cheat on their selected life partner, and particularly one that is pregnant, is fully capable of murder.

For me, it was his suspicious behavior from the start that made my skin crawl.  He did not behave like a man genuinely concerned about the wellbeing of his wife.  His demeanor was completely detached from such a mindset.  While the evidence was largely circumstantial, when you put the pieces together, I say he was as guilty as hell.
