LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — As many as 15,903 noncitizens may be registered to vote in Nevada, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security claimed in a letter sent to Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar Friday.
The letter, signed by DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, requests immediate collaboration with Aguilar’s office to verify the identities of those mentioned by July 30. Mullin said DHS is prepared to provide immigration records to Nevada under federal law to help the state identify and remove ineligible voters from its rolls.

Additionally, the letter claims a preliminary review of Nevada’s publicly available voter registration database found 8,576 registrants whose name, date of birth, address and Social Security number matched a noncitizen in federal immigration files.
“Allowing just one non-citizen to vote cancels the vote of one U.S. citizen,” Mullin wrote. “Working together, we can more effectively protect U.S. elections.”
