Three major US cities rank among worst air quality in the world as Canadian wildfire smoke invades America

America is dominating for the worst air quality in the world as Canadian wildfire smoke moves into the upper tier of the country, causing smoky, hazy skies for millions.

A recent wildfire outbreak across western Ontario, Canada, and Minnesota is sending thick plumes of smoke toward the Great Lakes and Northeast through Thursday.

According to the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre, 69 fires are burning out of control in Ontario, mostly in the western part of the province, north of Minnesota.

As of Thursday morning, three cities in the U.S. ranked in the top five worst air quality in the world because of wildfire smoke, according to IQ Air...................

1. Detroit, Michigan

2. Minneapolis, Minnesota

3. Chicago, Illinois

The air around here is pretty bad (thanks, Canada), and the TV weatherman is getting hysterical about how dangerous it will be tomorrow. 😬

THAT's the literal hell that the west goes through every August since they quit logging out here.

It's been a couple years since it was bad right here. And it's raining today, which will really help. Hopefully we'll get a week of gentle rain here in the end of July before the hot-box begins in August.

Thick and chewy as the Canadian smoke is over our area for these few days, it still isn't close to what Pittsburghers and other steel town residents experienced daily back in the first half of the 20th century. Just an observation from a western Pa. native.

As a boy growing up in South Buffalo, NY we had orange colored rust dust coating our window sills when the windows were opened.  NO CAC back in the day.
