American mom’s asylum seeking boyfriend person of interest in her brutal murder

The asylum-seeking boyfriend of an American mother who was found dead in her home in Ireland has been named as a person of interest in the brutal slaying.

The body of Jamey Carney, a 43-year-old woman from Westchester County, New York, was discovered by her 13-year-old daughter in the rented home that they shared off the Muckross Road in Killarney, a victim of a vicious assault.

The Irish Times reports that the postmortem determined that the cause of death was suffocation but that Carney also suffered head injuries. The body was found “under cover,” according to the New York Post.

Authorities have identified 28-year-old Ahmad Alsaqer – whom Carney reportedly met at a pro-Palestinian protest – as a suspect in the vicious killing that claimed the life of the expat mom who moved to Ireland in 2021 with her young daughter.

Jamey Carney, a 43-year-old single mother from New York State, packed up her life and moved to Ireland with her young daughter. She had thrown herself into the “Free Palestine” movement, posted against ICE, and appeared to embrace aspects of the culture and politics she supported from afar.
In Ireland she started a relationship with Ahmad Al-Saqar, a 28-year-old man from Jordan who had entered the country as an asylum seeker. The two were seen together at pro Palestine protests. She wore a keffiyeh in some posts and seemed to be converting. For a while it looked like the life she had chosen was working out.
Then reality hit in the worst possible way. Jamey Carney was found beaten to death in her home in Killarney. Her own child discovered the body.

Apparently, the Irish authorities are now more concerned about an anti-Islamic "backlash" than about the crime itself.
