Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, is facing hit-and-run charges after allegedly smashing his convertible into a parked car in Napa County before driving off.

Napa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a hit-and-run on the 6700 block of Yount Street in Yountville, on July 3 around 2:30 p.m., according to a press release.

A witness who called 911 pointed officials in the direction of a northbound vehicle seen colliding with the rear of a parked car on the shoulder, causing major damage. The collision also pushed the parked car’s right tire up onto the curb.

The witness said the vehicle briefly stopped and then drove away.

After police tracked Pelosi down, the 86-year-old admitted to hitting something but said he wasn’t aware what he struck. He then continued driving until his vehicle, disabled from the crash, stopped working.

He told deputies he continued driving until his car could no longer be driven. Investigators said there was no indication alcohol played a role in the crash. Pelosi was not taken into custody because California law generally requires misdemeanor offenses to occur in an officer’s presence before an arrest can be made without a warrant.

Local authorities are now taking steps to review whether Pelosi should still have his license. The sheriff’s office confirmed it plans to submit a driver reexamination request to the California DMV—a standard protocol often used for older drivers. Meanwhile, the entire case file has been handed over to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office to determine if charges will be filed.

This isn’t the first time Pelosi has made headlines for a traffic incident in Napa County. In 2022, he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence following a late-night collision, which resulted in a five-day jail sentence.

Considering the reflective surfaces on automobiles, if he "didn't know what he hit", I must question his fitness for driving. The idea that he did not stop to check is concerning.

In North Dakota, ANY collision is supposed to be reported and checked out by LEOs before you leave the scene. Not sure what California Law says, or whether that even matters for him.

In 1957, when he was 16, he flipped his sports car and killed his older brother while driving near San Mateo south of San Francisco. His brother David, 19, who was a passenger, had urged him to drive slower before the fatal incident, according to a patrolman quoted by the San Francisco Examiner.

The tragic accident occurred in the early morning hours in February 1957, when the siblings decided to take a joyride instead heading home. The car reportedly somersaulted and ended up upside-down on the shoulder of a road.

David was reportedly strangled by a brace he was wearing for a neck fracture, while Paul was trapped under the car but managed to free himself to call for help.

Pelosi was cited for a misdemeanor manslaughter but later exonerated by a coroner’s jury.

Pelosi also had two minor infractions on the road in 2011. He was cited for running a red light and also for veering over the center line while driving.

Authorities seemed awfully quick to say, "Welp, 0.00, no DUI, nothing to see here," when they know full well there are many drugs that can cause a person to drive like a drunk (see also, Tiger Woods).

Who has an accident with major damage and is not curious enough to fine out what the heck they hit?  Makes me wonder if perhaps there was another passenger that he did not want anyone to know about, so he drove as far as he could to get to a place where they would not be seen leaving the car.

This man is at a minimum...driving under the influence of prescription drugs, aka DUI.

We used to have an older gentleman that would hit my ditch (twice)... He had his keys taken from him, but somehow would manage to find a spare on occasion and take the car for a drive and my ditch was deceptively an obstacle for one of his turns close to home. He owned a garage so the garage folks would come and take him home and repair his lead-sled car. The wrecks did a lot of damage (even at slow speed) because my ditch is rocked to keep erosion down and the old fellow would keep driving until he couldn't move.

Gotta love independent old men with a touch of Alzheimer's, dangerous at times, but often it is just the man in them wired to be free.

Paul should have had his license revoked years ago...I am surprised he can get car insurance...ea accident costs his insurance repairs of 4 vehicles two are luxury, expensive cars.

As far as car insurance goes, perhaps he has a surety bond in lieu of insurance. That wouldn't be much at all compared to his net worth. Even so, he should still have had his license taken away. I wouldn't trust either him or his wife behind the wheel.
