Iran’s President Says Country in ‘Full-Scale War’ with U.S.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is subordinate to missing “supreme leader” Mojtaba Khamenei, declared in remarks on Monday that his country is in a “full-scale war” with the United States following the disintegration of a “memorandum of understanding” towards peace.

Problem is Muslims don't understand is that the longer you swagger around like a little street punk running your mouth, the more you back yourself into a corner with an adversary that will call your bluff like a Genghis Khan.

I suspect they'll keep talking smack and throwing poo till the last IRGC operator and mullah are dead and all they got to throw at us is rocks.
The Republic is lost.

Rattler shakes his tail in reply 775 above:
"It's true.  And war is hell.  Had to be done, as it must be in Iran right now.  Half-measures will just give us another half-victory and kick the can down the road again."

And I agree with you!

Like I said yesterday, if we are going "to win", it's going to require troops... or nukes.

How's that pickaxe mountain place going to be destroyed @400 ft. under solid rock?
C'mon folks, don't b.s. me.
You know what has to be done.

You may not say it out loud.
But...  you KNOW.

Some detail from AI:

--
The Iranian nuclear facility at Pickaxe Mountain is buried between roughly 260 to 330 feet beneath the granite of the Zagros Mountains.

Key details about the facility:
Location: Situated about 1.5 kilometers south of the main Natanz nuclear complex.

Fortifications: It features four reinforced tunnel entrances and is considered more deeply buried and fortified than Iran's Fordow site at 240 feet & Natanz at 120-150 feet

Capabilities: Experts believe the subterranean complex is designed to house centrifuge assembly halls and possibly highly enriched uranium stockpiles.

Vulnerability:
Intelligence analysts note this depth pushes the limits of or exceeds the reach of even the most powerful conventional bunker-busting weapons, such as the U.S. GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator.

--
Pickaxe Mountain geological structure:
This specific geological structure acts as a massive passive defense shield. The high concentration of quartz gives the rock immense hardness, while the interlocking crystalline texture prevents the shockwaves of kinetic weapons from easily fracturing the mountain. Because the rock does not compress or shatter easily, the subterranean halls dug between 300 to 1800 feet deep remain highly insulated against conventional heavy ordnance.

--
Tunneling:
Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) For long, continuous transit or ventilation tunnels, specialized "Hard Rock" TBMs are deployed.

Mechanics:
The front cutterhead is equipped with heavy tungsten carbide or hardened steel disc cutters.

Operation:
As the cutterhead rotates, massive hydraulic rams press the discs against the granite face with immense pressure.

Fracturing:
The pressure causes the hard, brittle granite to chip and flake off in fragments rather than grinding it to dust, which accelerates excavation speed.

--
Bunker-Buster Design and Penetration Mechanics:
To counter deeply buried facilities protected by 100s of feet of hard rock, military ordnance must overcome intense physical resistance. Weapon designers use specific engineering principles to maximize penetration.

1. Kinetic Energy and High Sectional Density:
Slender Profile:
Earth-penetrating weapons (EPWs) are designed with a long, narrow geometry (high sectional density). This concentrates the entire weight of the bomb onto a very small surface area upon impact.

Mass and Velocity:
Weapons like the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) rely on immense mass (approximately 30,000 pounds) dropped from high altitudes to achieve maximum terminal velocity before striking the mountain.

2. Advanced Material Science:
Case Hardening: The outer shell of a bunker buster cannot shatter upon hitting the granite. It is forged from proprietary, high-strength steel alloys (such as Eglin steel or Air Force96).

Deformation Resistance:
These alloys are specifically engineered to withstand the extreme thermal energy and deceleration forces of impacting hard rock without deforming or breaking apart before reaching the target depth.

3. Intelligent Fuze Technology:

Void Sensing:
Standard impact fuzes would detonate the weapon the moment it hit the mountain peak. Instead, modern EPWs use smart fuzes like the FMU-152 or Joint Programmable Fuze.

Layer Counting:
These fuzes utilize internal accelerometers to count the layers of rock or concrete the weapon passes through, delaying detonation until the warhead has penetrated a predetermined depth or entered an open underground cavity.

Neither did Ukraine.  It used drones instead, very effectively, and a helluva lot cheaper.

Currently the US does not have in any cheap drones in any quantity. There is a contract [ supposedly ] with Ukraine to produce cheap drones here, but that's years away or more given the slug-like speed of US military procurement.

And that is the problem with our military/industrial complex.

We have been buying the expensive stuff as it enriches the industry instead of cheaper stuff that works sometimes even better, using 20th century technology instead of 21st.

‘You Don’t Know Anything!’ Trump Snaps at Reporter Asking What His Plan Is With Iran

https://www.mediaite.com/politics/you-dont-know-anything-trump-snaps-at-reporter-asking-what-is-his-plan-with-iran/

Quote
President Donald Trump went off on ABC News White House correspondent Mary Bruce during a Tuesday press conference in the Oval Office after she asked him about the Iran war, with the president saying she didn’t know “anything” about the conflict.

“Mr. President, there are no signs that Iran is ready to stop fighting, so what is the plan? Is the plan to just keep fighting until they give up?” Bruce asked.

The president was agitated by the question and bashed her for it.

“How would you know there are no signs? Why, do you know something that I don’t know?” he shot back.

‘Well, they continue to attack our allies and kill Americans—” Bruce started to respond, before Trump cut her off.

“You don’t know what the dialogue is behind the scenes. They want to meet desperately to try and end it, because they’re getting decimated. You don’t get that when you’re listening to your fake station, but you don’t know anything.”

Bruce started to ask if talks were ongoing, as Trump continued peppering her with questions.

“You know something I don’t know? Do you know something I don’t know?” he said.

“Well tell us,” Bruce said.

“I will tell you they want to desperately meet, and until they are ready to meet in a meaningful way, we have no interest,” Trump answered.

The president previously branded Bruce a “terrible person” last year when she asked him questions about Jeffrey Epstein and his family’s business deals in Saudi Arabia.

Their feisty exchange on Tuesday followed an Iranian attack on a military base in Jordan that killed two American soldiers last weekend. The U.S. has responded with more military strikes, which reached 10 consecutive days on Monday.

“They did slip something through,” Trump said about the Jordan attack a bit later in the Tuesday press conference.

He reiterated his administration’s goal is for Iran to never obtain a nuclear weapon.

Where?
Where? How did Trump get the paradigm that he MUST stop all military activities in order to negotiate?
Trump has the idiotic idea that he cannot attack and negotiate at the same time.
It is the most stupid military mindset I have ever heard.

Trump: U.S. ‘Not Finished at All’ in Iran; Pickaxe Mountain Strike Coming ‘Pretty Soon’

President Donald Trump declared Tuesday that the United States is “not finished at all” with Iran, warning U.S. forces would strike the regime’s heavily fortified Pickaxe Mountain nuclear site “pretty soon” while signaling his administration was prepared to expand military operations rather than return to negotiations.

Soldier believed killed in Jordan attack ID'd as US strikes Iran for 11th straight night

The Pentagon on Tuesday identified a fourth U.S. soldier believed to have been killed during an attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, days after U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) had listed the service member as missing.

"The Department of War announced the believed to be death of an active-duty Soldier who was supporting overseas operations in Jordan," a Pentagon spokesperson said, adding that the incident remains "under investigation."

"Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York, is believed to have been killed in action on July 17, 2026, during an enemy attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, Jordan," a statement said.

The incident is under investigation.

CENTCOM had previously announced Rampersad was missing following the attack.

"The Soldier status was updated to a Duty Status-Whereabouts Unknown and is believed to be deceased," the spokesperson said.

Rampersad was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, based in Ansbach, Germany.

The Pentagon had also identified two other soldiers killed in the attack: Sgt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Hawaii, and Pfc. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Texas.

Another U.S. service member was killed in a separate incident in Iraq. The total number of U.S. service members killed in the Iran conflict is 18.

This came as CENTCOM announced a wave of fresh military strikes Tuesday.

Fox News' Chief National Security Correspondent Jennifer Griffin contributed to this report.

World Source News
@Worldsource24

Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Iran:

Iran demands the right, which they do not have under any existing legal mechanism, to control the transit of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. This is an international waterway.

If we create a precedent in the Middle East where a nation-state can decide that they are going to control an international waterway, charge a toll, and if you don't pay them, they blow up your ships, we have created a very dangerous precedent which will repeat itself in other parts of the world, including in this region.

So what is at stake here is not simply the issue of what's happening in the Strait of Hormuz. It's a very fundamental principle about freedom of navigation. And if that is threatened, then I think the global economy is threatened, and the rules that have underpinned 150 years of international trade and commerce are also threatened. And that cannot be allowed to happen.

A Substack article on Iran's plan to build their atomic centrifuge operation under mountains:

The Mountain Kept Its Promise
Iran spent decades treating rock as if it were safety
Ron Coleman
Jul 21, 2026

There’s a mountain called Fordow near Qom, Iran, and inside it some people set up a machine shop to make some things. To put a finer point on it, for the better part of two decades Iran’s rulers have been burrowing deep, deep, deep into that mountain. They dug deeper than anyone could see, deeper than anyone could reach. In these caverns almost measureless to man the mullahs decreed a stately pleasure dome – for what could be more pleasurable for an apocalyptic death cult than enrichment halls sitting 80 to 90 meters down, under reinforced concrete, under the whole weight of the mountain besides?

It wasn’t a cheap thing to build. It took years, and money, and a kind of patience most governments, and certainly ones that give a damn about the welfare of their citizens, can’t manage. And it rested on a single, reasonable proposition: that if you put enough dirt and rock between your centrifuges and the sky, the sky can’t touch them.

Give these lunatics their due, because they earned it. This wasn’t paranoia and it wasn’t waste. The Iranians watched, over the years, what happens to a nuclear facility that trusts the open air - Osirak in an afternoon, the Syrian reactor in a night - and they drew exactly the right lesson from exactly the right evidence. Depth is cheaper than a war. A mountain doesn’t defect, doesn’t miss its intercept, doesn’t need to be talked into standing its post. The Israelis can’t bribe it. Against the threat they’d actually seen - a bomber, a payload, a facility that could be reached - Fordow wasn’t a foolish answer - it was close to the correct one. The IRGC’s engineers weren’t stupid. They were wicked smart.

How smart? Here’s what happened when the Yanks came for Fordow in June of 2025. The rock did what rock is supposed to and held like rock. Twelve of the largest conventional bombs in the US Air Force’s arsenal - the 30,000-pound penetrators built for precisely this mountain - dropped in six places, two to a spot to widen the wound, and the halls, 80 to 90 meters down, weren’t reached. If the match had been the bomb against the mountain, the mountain won on points.

But that wasn’t the contest, because the Americans have some clever folks at work too. The Air Force didn’t aim at the rock. By every indication it aimed at the holes, just like Luke Skywalker: the vents, the throats, the openings that as a matter of physics you have to have in a mountain you use to build, operate and live in. Especially the first two, because a centrifuge hall isn’t a bunker you climb into to wait out the storm. It’s a factory, it’s a working plant, it needs entry and exit for supplies, oxygen, carbon dioxide, stuff you’re making and also Iranians. Depth can do a lot of protecting but when it comes to something that works for a living, it’s not really a long-term plan.

So yes: The mountain kept its promise, all of it. Abundantly.

A little too abundantly. Because what the USAF did was turn that abundance of depth, that impenetrable layer of terra firma, into the world’s deadliest seal.

Iran had built a vault and then locked what it valued most; what it dearly desired to protect at all costs, tight within it. Its enrichment hall became an enrichment crypt. The centrifuges are, by every indication, down there still, safe and secure forever.

Well, who among us hasn’t suffered one buried facility? You can’t win ’em all. What turns a defeat into a fallacy is what you do the morning after - and here Iran has been generous enough to show its work.

Yup, they’re digging again. South of Natanz, in the Zagros range, stands a taller mountain than the one over Fordow, and inside it Iran has been carving a new set of halls since 2020. The Americans call it Pickaxe Mountain, which is certainly a real American thing to call a huge hunk of stone. And by stone I mean granite – not the limestone and dolostone that sat over Fordow, but hard rock, chosen because, like the stubbornest of mullahs, granite soaks up and scatters the shock of a bunker-buster better than softer stone does.

Depth failed in Fordow, but Iran’s answer wasn’t less depth. It was more of it, in harder currency.

But Ron, you protest, Fordow was last year, and you just said Pickaxe Peak started popping in 2020! I did say that but guess what: It’s happening now. Satellite imagery from this past February shows crews at Pickaxe pushing rock and earth back over a tunnel mouth and pouring a fresh concrete headworks to carry still more cover - reinforcing the new mountain against precisely the strike that had just gutted the old one. The IRGC’s deposit is being made as I write this sentence. They’re shoveling more mountain onto the same mistake, because, they seem to think, the problem at Fordow was that the tomb wasn’t tomby enough. Needs more tomb.

This mental habit isn’t confined to rock; it’s how the Islamic Republic has always kept its books. The virtually limitless oil wealth poured into a ring of proxies, on the theory that the money and the menace were bottomless - and then Hezbollah, the Syrian corridor, the whole expensive network, degraded or gone in a season, the assets destroyed alongside the men they were meant to shield. The martyr’s willingness and the regime’s own legitimacy, drawn down for 40 years as though the well refilled itself while nobody watched the level.

Whether it’s physical depth, petrodollars, or unquenchable bloodlust: 3 accounts, 1 accounting error. Each was real. None, not even the last one, will ultimately prove to be in infinite supply. Proxies and suicide bombers are enthusiastic, but “idealism” only gets you so far. All these murder operations run on money, and Iran’s money ships out through one place: Kharg Island, a coral speck in the Gulf that loads something like 9 of every 10 barrels the Republic sells. Washington has spent the summer openly weighing whether to simply take it. Which is why the economic outlook in late July is, shall we say, not quite as robust as it was even in June - back when there was still a ceasefire, and the terminal that funds the whole enterprise wasn’t one Presidential order away from changing hands.

What Iran has left is now, fittingly, unknowable - to Iran most of all. The inspectors have been gone since February, thrown out along with the last people equipped to tell Tehran what it actually still holds. Estimates of the surviving centrifuges are exactly that, estimates, models built in the dark by outsiders. A regime that mistook insanely deep piles of dirt for permanence has arrived at the last cost of that mistake: it can’t count its own reserves, because it evicted the only ones doing the counting.

So there are 2 mountains now. One is sealed, keeping its useless promise over a crypt full of the safety it failed to deliver. The other is still open at the top, still taking deposits, granite going in by the truckload against the day the sky comes back. The men ordering the shoveling have already seen how this ends. They watched it end at Fordow a year ago. But in true Islamic Republic fashion, they’re digging anyway - deeper this time, into harder rock, certain, the way you can only be certain of a thing that’s never yet run out on you, that this mountain will be the one that holds.

With all of the Trump bashing going on here, now is a good time to remind all that the last POS POTUS was surveying his watch during this event.

With all his gaffes, I really feel he cares for these lost heros, vs.  Pedo Joe.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.  Note:  Posts may also be allegorical in nature, and not literal.

I happen to think that calling Trump "stupid," an "idiot' and a "moron" to be classless, distasteful, and factually at odds with the reality.

OK, Trump's opinion may be at odds with some, but he has more information than we do, and he's demonstrably not stupid!

I don't think anybody here has ever suggested that Trump doesn't care about the troops, and he seems to enjoy being around them, and supporting them.  That's never been in question.

What we do question though is his judgment, like wasting four critical months trying to cut some kind of deal with a bunch of psychopathic jihadis when he had them beaten back in April but then inexplicably called off the dogs.

Trump had to prove to the world's Peaceniks that Iran couldn't be trusted to honor any "peace agreement."  His patience ran out.  Personally, I was against the MOU because my patience with Iran expired decades ago!
