President Donald Trump has revealed that he is canceling the signing of a bipartisan housing bill, revealing that he will only sign it once the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE America) Act passes in the Senate.
“Today’s Housing News Conference and Signing is hereby cancelled until such time as we pass the desperately needed SAVE AMERICA ACT, which I consider to be a National Emergency,” Trump wrote in a Wednesday Truth Social post prior to the scheduled ceremony.
The president was set to sign the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, a housing legislation aimed at increasing the housing supply and bringing costs down by limiting institutional investors from purchasing homes in the single-family housing market.
The Housing legislation passed the Senate in an 85-5 majority on Monday, while the House of Representatives passed it in a 358-32 margin on Tuesday.
