Democrats pounce on Trump’s ‘I love the inflation’ remarks
June 11, 2026 | Chris Donaldson

President Donald J. Trump remains confident in the American economy’s resilience despite the stubborn persistence of high prices, shrugging off affordability concerns with his standard devil-may-care attitude.

The Labor Department released its report showing that the Consumer Price Index rose at an annual rate of 4.2 percent over the last 12 months, with the month of May alone accounting for 0.5 percent as gas prices remain elevated due to the Iran war and closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

When asked by a reporter about the numbers in the Oval Office on Wednesday, Trump responded, “No, I love it. The numbers were great,” before adding, “I love the inflation,” stating that the U.S. has quietly taken millions of barrels of oil out of Iran and that 200 ships have passed through the vital navigational chokepoint.

Great and if prices aren't dramatically lower before the mid terms this only sets the tone that the GOP has caused this inflation.  What an absurd and bizarre thing to say.
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

It would be, standing alone. If he can wrap this war, though, he's probably right about inflation plummeting.
[H]umanity repeats the worst mistakes of previous generations and ... every free, prosperous civilization will eventually be destroyed by that small fraction of its people who find no satisfaction in anything but anger.
