.@POTUS:  "So tonight, let us say clearly and proudly what makes Americans so unique and extraordinary. We are going to give our country its identity back. Above all, Americans love freedom. We cherish independence, and know that we are the heirs to the most beautiful land, the most thrilling story, and the most precious legacy on which the sun has ever shined.

"In America, we do not need anyone’s permission to say what we think, to live as we please, to worship as we choose, or to keep and bear arms. For 6 years, I have saved, almost singlehandedly, your Second Amendment—and I will continue to do so. Our rights were given to us by the God who made us, and those rights shall not be infringed.

"Americans believe in self-reliance. We look at success not with envy, but with admiration—and we earn it. We are an incredibly good, kind, and generous people—always ready to help a friend or neighbor in need. No one has ever given more to charity, ended more hunger, cured more disease, or done more to uplift humanity than Americans, and no country ever will.

"Americans honor excellence, we admire boldness, we respect ambition. We are a nation of dreamers and believers, warriors and explorers, doers and fighters. In every human endeavor, Americans see an unfinished competition. What is strong can be made stronger, what is fast can be made faster, what is great can be made greater than ever before. Show us a mountain, and we’ll climb it. Show us an ocean, and we’ll cross it. Show us a problem, and we’ll conquer it. Show us a task the world calls “impossible,” and Americans will get it done.

"Americans are strong, and always ready to stand firm for a good cause. We treasure justice, fairness, family, honesty, and human dignity. Unlike societies based on class, clan, or tribe, we see every citizen as an individual—equal under the law, and equal in the eyes of the Lord.

"In America, we speak English, because that is the language of our Founding, and for a thousand years, that has been the language of Freedom. An American always wants peace and order, but we will never shrink from danger or threat. We fight, fight, fight, and we win, win, win.

"This is our culture. This is our character. Not every American is ALL of these things—but every American knows these are the traits that make our country exceptional.

"You do not have to be born here—but you do have to love what we have built here. There has never been anything like us anywhere on earth, and we are not going to let anyone take it away."

President Trump on communism ----  ⬇️ ⬇️

Quote
Rapid Response 47
@RapidResponse47

.@POTUS:  "Yet as we approach this magnificent anniversary, we see our American identity under a renewed attack. A generation after we fought and won the Cold War against the menace of Communism, there is now a resurgence of the Communist menace in our land—including from newcomers to our country who embrace ideas totally opposed to our way of life.

"These are not mere political disagreements, like differences over taxes or regulations. Communism is a mortal threat to American Liberty.  It is the Greatest Threat to our Country including World War One, World War Two, Pearl Harbor, or 9/11.

"Because Communism is the enemy of Free People everywhere. It is the enemy of the Constitution. Above all, it is the Enemy of July 4th, 1776.

"Even while the Radicals and Extremists attack our incredible history at every turn, they are SILENT on the miserable history of Communism itself. Their system has led to more death and destruction than any system ever tried—it killed 100 million people in the last century.

"Communism is the exact opposite of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness—it is death, tyranny and the pursuit of evil.

"The Godless Communist morality states that anything is justified to bring about the inhuman visions they propose. They have no respect for law, justice, principle, tradition, or your God-given rights.

"It is an ideology of mass theft, mass control, mass lies, and mass murder. Such doctrines can be given no quarter in a Democracy, because the first thing they do when they get into power is turn around, and destroy it—just as Communists have done in other countries all over the world.

"Very simply, Communism represents the worst ideas and abuses in history by the worst people—the American Founding represents the best ideas and traditions in history by the best people.

"You can be loyal to Karl Marx, or you can be loyal to America. You can be a Communist, or you can be a Patriot. You cannot be both.

"As for those who would peddle Marxist lies about our heritage—who tell our children that we live on stolen land, or that our heroes were oppressors—they are doing something much worse than slandering our past. They are attacking our future. They are trying to tear down the American Character, to destroy the people who declared Independence, crossed the Delaware, settled the West, and conquered the skies. But we will never let that happen.

"Our American Ancestors did not shed their blood at Concord and Trenton, Gettysburg and Shiloh, Midway and Normandy, just so that a band of thieves and radicals could come in and loot and pillage the nation our heroes died to win, build, and save.

"So on the eve of this 250th anniversary of American Liberty, we resolve and swear for all to hear that the Citizens of the United States of America will vanquish Communism from our shores, and send it into exile once and for all. America will never be a Communist country!"

DC parade canceled as excessive heat further upends America 250 festivities

The annual Independence Day parade in Washington, D.C., was canceled late Friday due to sweltering temperatures in the nation’s capital.

The event, which is hosted by the National Park Service, was scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. Organizers said they canceled the procession due to an “Extreme Heat Warning” from the National Weather Service (NWS).

Temperatures are expected to reach as high as 102 degrees in the district on the Fourth of July, with showers and thunderstorms expected in the evening hours, according to the NWS. Heat index values are expected to hit between 110 and 115 degrees.

“This decision was made after extensive consultation with the National Park Service, the District of Columbia City Government, and Freedom 250, and careful consideration of the safety of our participants, spectators, and staff as the top priority,” a statement on the event’s website reads.

A heat dome over the region has forced organizers for the festivities marking America’s 250th anniversary in the city to readjust plans.

The Great American State Fair — a 16-day event on the National Mall — temporarily closed down earlier Friday amid reports that 44 attendees had to receive medical attention for heat-related illnesses. Local outlet, NBC Washington 4, reported later in the day that 11 people were transported to the hospital and seven of the cases were considered “serious.”

The fair later reopened to the public ahead of the Capitol Fourth concert.

Freedom 250, the fair’s organizer, also delayed the opening of the event on Saturday morning by two hours to accommodate extreme temperatures.

“With warm temperatures expected, guests are encouraged to stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, apply sunscreen, take breaks in the shade, utilize cooling areas, and look out for family and friends,” the committee wrote in a social media post on Friday.

President Trump is still expected to take the stage at the fair on Saturday evening to deliver a lengthy speech marking America’s 250th birthday. His remarks will follow a packed schedule of military flyovers over the National Mall, and he will kick off a record-breaking fireworks show in the late evening.

“By the way, on July 4th, it’s going to be approximately 107 degrees out, and I’m going to go, and I’m going to make a really long speech just to show that I can do anything,” Trump said in a speech at the opening ceremony for the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, N.D., earlier this week.

The event also follows his “optimistic” speech marking the semiquincentennial in South Dakota late Friday, with Mount Rushmore in the background.

I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.

I wrote this 23 years ago on the second anniversary of 9/11.

Appropriate for today...

I refuse to live in fear.
I am an American.
I will travel whenever I want in this great land of ours
undeterred by the threats of others.
I will take my children to our treasured landmarks
and historical sites.
I will not retreat from an adventuresome journey
because of others with a disdain for our way of life.
It is the legacy of our forefathers who shed their blood
on battlefields throughout the world to protect
our democratic institutions.
I will show my children this country in all its majesty,
from the beauty of a Pacific sunset to the bright lights of Broadway
to the beacon held high by Lady Liberty.
I will show them Ellis Island,
the gateway to a new world with the hopes and dreams of millions.
This nation was forged by an amalgam of spirited people
who believed in self-determination.
I will not bow to those who challenge that notion.
It dishonors the memory of those who have gone before me.
I refuse to let the actions of a few destroy my will.
I will show my children the monuments to our presidents
who persevered in times of crisis and triumphed over evil.
I will show them Arlington National Cemetery
and the graves of those who fell in the defense of freedom.
I will show them a field in the rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania
Where citizen soldiers fought back
and gave their lives in the latest struggle.
I have seen the horrors of that fateful day.
I have watched as flags ruffled in the breeze unbowed
as the smoke rose from the ashes.
Its pungent odor and acrid smell did not destroy our spirit.
I have heard the countless untold stories of heroism
that will stay with me forever.
To live timidly disgraces their honor.
I will keep that dream alive.
I refuse to live in fear.
I am an American.
