California voter fraud fight sparks all-out war as state blocks federal demand: ‘What are they afraid of?’

California is blocking a federal audit of its voter rolls as the Trump administration ramps up its criticism of local elections.

LA’s top federal prosecutor Bill Essayli said Sunday his office wants to scrutinize the state’s electoral system as eyebrows have been raised over a sudden surge in late votes for Democratic candidates.

“California allows first-time voters to register using forms of ID that most Americans would find surprising,” Essayli wrote in a post on X Sunday, listing examples that included health club membership cards, employee identification cards, credit or debit cards, prescription drug labels and insurance cards.

He noted those forms of identification are permitted under California regulations in limited circumstances when a voter does not provide a driver’s license number or Social Security number during registration.

“Our office believes this policy deserves a closer look,” he wrote. “If California genuinely wants voters to trust its elections, it should open its records, not fight to keep them closed. What are they afraid of?”

The question should be 'How much fascism are Republicans willing to tolerate?'
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Jim Jones was a socialist Democrat.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
Doesn't the FedGov have the right to audit voter rolls under HAVA?

Even better, don't the people of California have the right under the US Constitution to a republican form of government?

The headline abuses English IMO. All out war is an all out war. This is just like a legal dispute.

Does “One Man, One Vote” ring a bell with anyone?
Scientists, like all discoverers of truth, have always asked, "What?” “How?” “Why?” “What if?” and “Why not?” Questioning science is science.
