With 33% of the vote in, Paxton's lead has widened.

Delighted to see Ken Paxton win.  Sen Thune would be well advised to START working with President Trump.  He is up for re-election in 2028, and he like Sen Cornyn can be primaried.

The time is long overdue to rid the party of RINOs.  Every last one of them!

Congressional Runoff Results Show Continued Conservative Movement

Texas Scorecard  by Adam Cahn May 26, 2026

Mealer, Bonck among winners.

The unprecedented rightward shift in Texas’ GOP congressional delegation that began in the March primary continued in Tuesday night’s runoffs.

In Harris County, Alexandra Mealer defeated State Rep. Briscoe Cain in a runoff for the open seat in Congressional District 9.

Mealer has been endorsed by Houston businessman Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale and President Trump. Cain, who was a close political ally of disgraced former speaker Dennis Bonnen, has feuded with the grassroots for supporting power sharing arrangements with Democrats and supporting the impeachment of Ken Paxton.

Also in Harris County, John Bonck defeated Shelley DeZevallos in CD 38. This is an open seat currently held by Wesley Hunt, who chose to run for the U.S. Senate but came in third.

In the Panhandle, Tom Sell defeated Abraham Enriquez for CD 19.

Paxton Defeats Cornyn in Texas Senate Primary
George Caldwell

•   May 26, 2026

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton defeated incumbent Republican Sen. John Cornyn in the state’s primary runoff Tuesday, adding to President Donald Trump’s hot streak of unseating those he considers insufficiently loyal and ending Cornyn’s multi-decade career in the Senate.

The Associated Press declared Paxton the victor at 9 p.m. EDT, when he held a 25 point lead over Cornyn. Paxton had secured 62.5% of the vote to Cornyn’s 37.5%.

In his victory speech, Paxton credited his victory to Trump and pledged to work with him.

“When everyone in Washington told him to abandon me and abandon the people of Texas, he didn’t listen,” Paxton said of Trump.

Paxton added, “Instead, he gave me his complete and total endorsement. President Trump is the leader of our party and his endorsement… is the most powerful force in politics… I look forward to delivering with him in the Senate to deliver for Texans.”

Bo French Wins Republican Nomination for Railroad Commission

Texas Scorecard

Incumbent Jim Wright loses after serving one term.

A majority of Republican Primary runoff voters chose Bo French over Jim Wright as the party’s nominee for the Texas Railroad Commission.

Both men were the top vote-getters in the March Primary, but Wright underperformed with just 32.1 percent of the vote. French won 31.8 percent. With neither scoring a majority in the five-way race, both were thrust into the May 26 runoff.

Established in 1891, state law transitioned the Railroad Commission of Texas into a state agency with oil and gas oversight in 1917, with the last of its railroad oversight transferred to the Texas Department of Transportation in 2005. Currently, the Railroad Commission has primary regulatory jurisdiction and enforcement over the oil and natural gas industry and is responsible for both state and federal compliance.

Christian Menefee defeats Al Green in Democratic primary in redrawn 18th House District in Texas

By Associated Press - Tuesday, May 26, 2026
Newly elected Rep. Christian Menefee defeated veteran Rep. Al Green in Texas’ 18th District, dispatching a longtime House incumbent who was one of Trump’s most outspoken critics.

The Republican-led Texas Legislature redrew the district when it approved a new House map last year.

The new map led to a runoff between incumbents and marks the end of a dizzying series of elections in the Houston area

Mayes Middleton Secures GOP Attorney General Nomination

Texas Scorecard

The current state senator wins convincingly over Congressman Chip Roy.

State Sen. Mayes Middleton won Tuesday’s Republican Primary runoff for Texas attorney general, defeating U.S. Rep. Chip Roy in a hard-fought and costly statewide GOP contest.

Middleton entered the runoff in a strong position after besting Roy in the March primary by nearly 8 points, despite polling and betting markets having the congressman leading the runoff-bound race.

One of the first candidates to enter the race, Middleton positioned himself as the Trump‑aligned conservative in the race. He also earned the very vocal support of Aaron Reitz, a former Trump administration official who came in fourth in the first round of the Primary.

Roy also claimed the Trump mantle and had the high-profile endorsement of U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz. In the runoff, Roy was featured on multiple statewide slate mailers, and polling showed a competitive contest in the waning days of the race.

Paxton Slaughters Cornyn, Middleton and Thomas Win, French Leading

Lawrence Person's BattleSwarm Blog

Outgoing Rep. Dan Crenshaw can rest slightly easier tonight: His is no longer the most embarrassing incumbent Texan Republican loss of 2026.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton slaughtered incumbent John Cornyn in the Republican runoff. As of this writing, the Texas Tribune tracking page has Paxton garnering 64% of the vote against Cornyn’s 36%. That’s a crushing defeat for a four-term incumbent, especially one who went into the runoff with a slight lead over Paxton. But once in the runoff, Paxton constantly polled ahead of Cornyn, with Republicans dissatisfied with Cornyn’s defections on key conservative priorities over the years (especially on the issue of illegal alien amnesty), and President Trump endorsing Paxton over Cornyn was the final nail in his coffin. I mean, look at this freaking map:

State Senator Mayes Middleton scored a decisive win over U.S. Congressman Chip Roy in the Texas Attorney General’s race by around a 55-45% margin. I think Middleton ran the more effective direct mail campaign, establishing himself as the “MAGA” and cultural conservative candidate early on, and painting as weak on a variety of cultural issues early on. I didn’t see any actually see any flyers for Roy until the week of the runoff, when it was way too late.

Thomas Smith beat Alison Fox decisively by about 58-42% for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals Place 3.

Right now, Bo French is leading incumbent Jim Wright by about 26,000 votes with 94% of ballots in, so I think he’s going to hold on to win. That would mean I was 4 for 4 in my runoff picks. Behold, the power of my endorsements! (If they are powerful, it’s a pretty recent development, given my support for the Presidential campaigns of Jack Kemp, Phil Gramm and Rick Perry.)

In other results:
Maureen “send Zionist to the camps” Galindo lost handily to Johnny Garcia for the TX-35 Democrat nomination.
Colin Allred beat Julie Johnson for the TX-33 Dem nod.
TX-18 incumbent Christian Menefee (age 38) beat TX-9 incumbent Al Green (age 78) in the Democrat TX-18 primary by a 2-1 margin.
Speaking of TX-9, the Trump-endorsed Alex Mealer beat Briscoe Cain (who supported Dade Phelan and voted for the Paxton impeachment) in the Republican primary by an over 2-1 margin.

Never give to the RNSC.

It destroys your money.

In defending Cornyn, the money went to attack ads Talarico will use against Paxton.

In effect, giving to the RNSC is like giving to liberals and the Dems

Democrats see red meat in Paxton primary blowout
by Jared Gans - 05/27/26 6:57 AM ET

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton may have trounced Sen. John Cornyn (R) for the GOP nomination for Senate, but Democrats are feeling like the big winner from Texas’s primary results Tuesday night.

The controversial Paxton’s victory sets up the general election matchup Democrats believe gives them their best chance in decades of flipping the Lonestar State, rallying around Democratic nominee James Talarico, who quickly released his first video for the general election.

“If we the people can come together to defeat the most corrupt politician in America, we can defeat this entire corrupt system,” Talarico said in the direct-to-camera spot.

In one sign of Democrats’ boosted odds, the election handicapper Cook Political Report shifted its rating of the Texas Senate race from “likely Republican” to “lean Republican” following Paxton’s primary win.

“Given the national environment, this is a race that certainly may have become competitive even if Cornyn had won, but Paxton’s flaws warrant an immediate move to the Lean column,” Cook Political Report Senate and governors editor Jessica Taylor wrote in her analysis explaining the move.

As Taylor notes, Democrats were already eyeing Texas as a potential pickup opportunity. Their lead in the generic congressional ballot has been widening recently, currently standing at more than 7 points, according to Decision Desk HQ.

But they have long viewed Paxton as their ideal opponent.

Van perfectly points out the problem with Cornyn: holding a Senate seat is not a "Career" job.

Who sits in that seat is the representative of the people of Texas.

You do not make a career out of their interests - you support Texans instead of trying to hold onto your seat.

Mayes Middleton defeats Chip Roy for Republican nomination for Texas Attorney General

Roy and Middleton advanced to a runoff election in March after neither candidate received the majority of votes. Middleton led Roy in March with 39% of the vote to Roy's 31%.
By Misty Severi

Published: May 26, 2026 10:07pm

Texas state Sen. Mayes Middleton defeated GOP Rep. Chip Roy Tuesday in a special runoff election for the Republican nomination for Texas attorney general, the Associated Press has projected.

Roy and Middleton advanced to a runoff election in March after neither candidate received the majority of votes. Middleton led Roy in March with 39% of the vote to Roy's 31%.

Middleton advanced to the November general election with 55.7% of the vote compared to Roy's 44.3%. The post is currently held by Ken Paxton, who is forgoing reelection to run for Senate. Middleton will now face Democrat Nathan Johnson later this year.

Roy's defeat comes after he served four terms in the House of Representatives, where he has represented Texas’ 21st Congressional District since 2019.

Roy has earned a reputation in Congress as a conservative ideologue. He previously led in polling and fundraising and has been endorsed by other conservatives like Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz and Freedom Caucus representatives.

President Donald Trump did not endorse a candidate in the attorney general race.

Currently, the Railroad Commission has primary regulatory jurisdiction and enforcement over the oil and natural gas industry and is responsible for both state and federal compliance.

I honestly don't know much about James Talarico, so I did a Google search and ChatGPT search.  The guy is a nut and I'd say a 99% chance is gay as he's not married and is a huge supporter of the LGBTQ community.  He's for open borders, is a vegan, probably anti-gun but didn't find that specifically.

There's a thread at the top of the Texas category detailing all that's wrong with Talarico and his many hinky political, social and religious views.
