EXCLUSIVE: Tulsi Gabbard is resigning from her post as Director of National Intelligence to support her husband through his battle with "an extremely rare form of bone cancer," Fox News Digital learned.

Gabbard notified President Donald Trump during a meeting in the Oval Office Friday. Her last day at ODNI is expected to be June 30.

Fox News Digital exclusively obtained her formal resignation letter, in which Gabbard says she is "deeply grateful for the trust you placed in me and for the opportunity to lead the Office of the Director of National Intelligence for the last year and a half."

"Unfortunately, I must submit my resignation, effective June 30, 2026," she wrote. "My husband, Abraham, has recently been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer."

Gabbard said her husband "faces major challenges in the coming weeks and months."

"At this time, I must step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle," she said.

Gabbard added: "Abraham has been my rock throughout our eleven years of marriage — standing steadfast through my deployment to East Africa on a Joint Special Operations mission, multiple political campaigns and now my service in this role."

"His strength and love have sustained me through every challenge," she continued. "I cannot in good conscience ask him to face this fight alone while I continue in this demanding and time-consuming position."

Gabbard said she has "made significant progress at the ODNI — advancing unprecedented transparency and restoring integrity to the intelligence community," but said she recognizes "there is still important work to be done."

"I am fully committed to ensuring a smooth and thorough transition over the coming weeks so that you and your team experience no disruption in leadership or momentum," she said.

I predicted this at the beginning of the war after her right-hand man got fired for leaking.  So here we are.

EDIT:  I didn't see the part about her husband's bone cancer until after I made this post above.  It's terrible thing...my father-in-law died from it last October, and there is no cure.  She's doing the right thing since I doubt he has long left in this world.

 and Abe are not just friends to Ben and me, they are family. They are the godparents to our eldest daughter Liberty.

I first met them nearly a decade ago during one of the darkest periods of my life, and after just one lunch together, I immediately fell in love with both of them. At a time when I felt lost, I knew I had found a sister in Tulsi. She and Abe have brought so much light into my life through their love of country, devotion to family, deep faith in God, humor, selflessness, and the kind of joy that feels like finding a rainbow after a long storm.

Over the years, we have been through many highs and lows together, and I could not be more proud of the people they are or the sacrifices they have both made in service to this country.

Right now, our hearts are with Abe as he faces the road ahead in his cancer battle. He is one of the strongest, kindest, and most resilient people I know, and I have complete faith in his strength and spirit.

Ben and I are also incredibly proud of the important work Tulsi has done as Director of National Intelligence. Public service always comes with sacrifice, and she has led with courage, conviction, and integrity during a consequential time for our country.

We love them deeply and will be standing beside them every step of the way through whatever comes next.

Reuters Reports WH ‘Forced’ Gabbard to Resign, Despite Her Citing Husband’s Cancer Battle

Tulsi Gabbard resigned as President Donald Trump’s Director of National Intelligence on Friday, citing her husband’s recent diagnosis with bone cancer. While both Gabbard and Trump put out releases citing Gabbard’s husband’s illness, Reuters reported that Gabbard “had been forced out by the White House.”

Reuters ran with the initial headline, “White House forced top spy Gabbard to resign, source says,” and included the line, “A source familiar with the matter said that ​Gabbard had been forced out by the White House.”

Gabbard’s chief of staff as DNI, Alexa Henning, shared Reuters’s report and wrote, “Just when you think you don’t hate the media enough @Reuters. This is false. Her husband, who is an absolutely incredible human being, has been diagnosed with a rare bone cancer.”

As Reuters updated its breaking news piece, the story’s headline changed to “Gabbard resigns as Trump’s top US intelligence official,” but it also added a crosshead into the text: “PUSHED OUT.”

Under the crosshead, Reuters reported:

    “She was pushed out by the White House,” a source familiar with Gabbard’s departure told Reuters. “The White House has been unhappy with ​her for quite some time.”

    The person ​said among other reasons for the ⁠displeasure with Gabbard were the activities of her taskforce known as the Director’s Initiatives Group. Among other activities, it has worked to declassify documents related to the death of former President John F. Kennedy, investigate the security of election machines, ​and probe the origins of COVID-19.

This is truly upsetting news. No surprise that Director Gabbard would put her loved one first in her priorities. She is not only an exceptional American, but an extraordinary woman and wife. It is a great loss for us as Americans, but we support her and pray for them both.
