Mace introduces amendment requiring natural-born citizenship for Congress and federal judges
May 21, 2026 | Frieda Powers

A new proposed resolution could put certain government positions out of reach for those who are naturalized U.S. citizens.

A constitutional amendment introduced by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC)  would limit serving in Congress or as federal judges to only those who are natural-born U.S. citizens. Mace, who is running for governor in South Carolina, said it is a “long overdue joint resolution” in a  social media post on Wednesday, specifically naming foreign-born members of Congress who demonstrate their “loyalty is not to America.”

“Ilhan Omar. Shri Thanedar. Pramila Jayapal. All born in foreign countries, none were citizens by birth. All sitting in the United States Congress. All making clear every single day their loyalty is not to America,” Mace wrote, singling out Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Shri Thanedar (D-MI), and Pramila Jayapal (D-WA).

I oppose. This restricts my rights as a voter to support anyone I want to represent me in congress. I see no reason to sacrifice some of my voter sovereignty just because districts I don't live in have elected fools.

How about instead passing a bill that bans giving free shit to non-citizens?

Our republic does not work the way it is designed to because too many laws have been passed to usurp the original intent. The answer is not to pass new laws, but to redact the old ones.

Besides, the last thing you want is to mess with the constitution over a trivial issue like this. Who knows what might happen if you open that can of worms.

Whoever represents the districts of Ilhan Omar, Shri Thanedarn and Pramila Jayapal would be just as commie, regardless of citizenship.

There are some fine judges on the bench who were born elsewhere.  Remember Miguel Estrada?

First, we need a Constitutional Amendment that clearly defines the qualifications to be a "natural-born citizen".

As of now, a pregnant Chi-com birth-right citizenship tourist could spawn a junior commie in the United States, and that little Mao-ist would be considered a natural-born citizen.

The SCOTUS will back your position unless there's a ratified Constitutional Amendment.  This would be considered "an extra test" for holding a public office.
I don’t owe tolerance to people who disagree with my existence.
I will NOT comply.

SCOTUS will be ruling on birthright citizenship sometime in June and hopefully once and for all the issue of what constitutes being a natural-born citizen will clearly be defined.
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

The issue has never been birthright citizenship.  The issue has been allowing their illegal parents remain in the country to collect free shit from the taxpayer instead of cutting off their free-shit supply and deporting their illegal asses.  And if they take their kid with them when they are deported, if that US citizen kid grows up in El Salvador and begins earning an income, that citizen can start filing US tax returns and hand over their taxes to Uncle Sam just like every other US citizen.
