Violent crime fell across the United States in 2025 at rates not seen in close to a century, findings from the FBI showed.

Murder and non-negligent manslaughter plummeted by more than 18% nationwide last year, while aggravated assault dropped by more over 7%, according to a preliminary report on national 2025 crime rates.

Violent crime on the whole dipped by about 9.3% last year, the data shows.

FBI Director Kash Patel said he was committed to a “back the blue” approach to law enforcement across the country.

Can we really trust the numbers that are being reported.  The books get cooked all the time.

Unreported. Under reported. Reclassified. Hidden.

It's not that I don't trust the Gov.. it's just that I don't trust the Gov to come clean and not do the CYA.

It was James Madison, I believe, who said a person should never trust his freedom to another person.  I assume by that he was intelligent enough to include government people. :da man:

Agree with Wingnut above.

I don't know if these numbers can be trusted, considering who's doing "the reporting"...

Agree, too easy to fudge crime numbers... switch meanings to downplay certain crimes by certain demograpics to try to make politicians/Sheriff/DAs/mayors look more competent in job assessments (and re-elections).
