The ordinary people of 1776
It wasn’t just George Washington and the rest of those guys. A whole nation was coming together.

We all remember the famous Founders of 1776, and we honor them. As we approach the 250th birthday of the Declaration of Independence, we will be lifting them up. They deserve it.
We should also celebrate the thousands of anonymous people who were alive in the colonies in 1776. These people had to choose whether to support the Revolution or to remain loyal to the monarchy in England, and they did choose. Their families were often divided because of the choices they made. Sound familiar?
Novelist Lars D.H. Hedbor has written six novels about ordinary characters with extraordinary stories in Revolutionary days. He calls his series Tales from a Revolution: Stories from the neglected corners of our national origin.
Interestingly, the descendants of these colonists living in America in 2026 are like their ancestors. Some are famous, but most are not, and they are living in anonymity while contributing to their communities and to their nation.
As one of those descendants, someone who is standing for the Faith and our Republic now as my ancestors stood back then, I would like to share about some of my ancestors, including one who was brought down to shame in Virginia.
