White House shooting suspect accused of trying to assassinate Trump complains prison conditions are a breach of his rights

The suspect who allegedly opened fire at the White House Correspondents' Dinner has complained that his prison conditions are a violation of his rights.

Cole Tomas Allen, 31, asked a judge to remove the suicide precautions in his Washington DC jail cell, which has been fitted with additional security features to keep watch of the alleged attempted assassin.

His attorneys said in new court filings that when Allen was being booked into jail on Monday, staff at the Department of Corrections did not note any security risks on his booking documents.

They said the jail still moved ahead with placing him in a suicide-proof 'safe cell', which includes 24-hour lockdown precautions.

The cell is also fitted with padded walls, and Allen is strip-searched whenever he enters or leaves the room, as well as being made to wear a vest 'akin to a strait jacket'.

Allen's attorneys said despite a second assessment on Tuesday again finding no suicide risks, he was recommended to remain on suicide watch.

They said on Friday a nurse concluded he no longer needed to remain on suicide watch, but Allen has not yet been downgraded to a lower security status.

Prosecutors say Allen attempted to storm the event on Saturday, where President Trump and a number of his top cabinet officials were attending the press event at the Hilton Hotel in Washington DC.

Speaking of breaching rights, didn't he deem the people he wanted to kill as having no right to life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness?

Judge apologizes to Trump WHCD alleged shooter after he complained about mediocre jail conditions

A liberal federal judge in DC has sparked outrage after apologizing to Donald Trump's alleged would-be assassin for restrictions placed on him behind bars.

Cole Tomas Allen, 31, has been held in a 24-hour lockup ever since he was placed in federal custody, after prosecutors say he attempted to gain access to the White House Correspondents' Association dinner to kill the President.

Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui slammed attorneys during a Monday afternoon court hearing over the conditions of Allen's imprisonment. Allen was placed on suicide watch when he was first jailed.

'At a minimum, I should be apologizing to him. We are obligated to make sure he’s taken care of. Mr. Allen, I’m sorry that things have not been the way they are supposed to,' the judge said.

Faruqui went on to compare Allen's imprisonment to those arrested for rioting at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

'To me, it’s extremely disturbing that he was put in five-point restraints, a person with no criminal history,' Faruqui added. 'It’s troubling. I never heard of one Jan. 6 defendant who was put in five-point restraints or in a safe cell. If the only way to keep him safe is the most punitive thing, that’s a problem.'

The judge ordered officials at the DC jail to update him by tomorrow morning about Allen's requested jail accommodations. Allen's attorneys filed a motion on Sunday demanding he be removed from suicide watch restrictions in prison.

While admonishing prison officials, Judge Faruqui emphasized that Allen is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Yet Allen posted a manifesto admitting to plotting the shooting, and video footage captured the would-be assassin rushing past Secret Service while wielding a shotgun before agents opened fire.
