I don't think it's true... The first vid looks like one of the custom kit cars made to convert a Camero into a Firebird... There's a high end company that has a license to use the Pontiac badge that's doing it - It's a very high dollar conversion. That's probably what you saw around town.

The second seems to be pure AI... No way they would put out a Trans Am without the thunder chicken on the hood.

No GM promotional website...
No 'here it comes' ads by GM. No nothing.

I think it is bogus... And I am a great fan of Pontiac, and the Firebird in particular.

New cars are tall, and GM would probably turbocharge a 1.3 liter weedeater engine.  Wait for verification.

@roamer_1 -- I simply posted a video depicting the TransAm Firebird that I physically saw..  I have seen 2 around town and no way are they a kit.

Yes.  Pontiac shut down.  The new "Trans Am" is built by Trans Am Worldwide (also known as Trans Am Depot), a Florida-based company, not General Motors. These are specialized, custom-built vehicles created from modern Camaro platforms, designed to look like classic 1970s Pontiac Firebird Trans Ams, often featuring 6.2L V8 engines producing over 700 horsepower.

I don't care for the new Corvettes, but the Firebird Transam is beautiful.  Last year Mr. Bele and I watched the Detroit Auto show on TV and they showed the new retooled TransAms, GTO's, Camaro, Plymouth Roadrunner, Impalas, Cadillacs, etc.

As I posted above, there is a company in FL producing the TransAms, I don't know who is making the rest, but in watching the show and seeing a couple around town, they are beautiful  looking cars. They have lots of power behind them and come with a hefty price tag.  I didn't like some of the looks from the Detroit Auto show but the TransAm was my favorite.
