IMPORTANT: SCOTUS did NOT just outright overrule all VRA seats

This ruling is for Louisiana.

HOWEVER, the liberals worry this is a demolition of VRA in the long term

States can and should likely redraw, and allow the new maps to go up to SCOTUS

Because this is narrow to Louisiana, other states may get blocked by district judges if they redraw before the midterms.  It probably does undo the VRA in the medium term unless the courts are expanded (which is a distinct possibility).

The Supreme Court just made it easier to draw minority voters out of power. That's what today's ruling does.

Kagan said Section 2 is now "all but a dead letter." She's right.

States can gerrymander by race as long as they call it partisanship, and the Court handed them the playbook to do so.

Here's an irony of all ironies, all the unrestricted immigration during the Skeezy admin changed the demographics of this country, and with it perspectives and attitudes. To the point that it has watered down woke Leftist Black American clout so that these special select VRA Black districts look downright stupid and reek of the vain race pimping they are, and now are going to be busted up.

Goodly is the smell of schadenfreude in the morning.

Bro, the Supreme Court just ruled 6-3 that you CAN’T racially gerrymander districts to rig elections for Democrats anymore.

That’s not “suppression”  that’s called fair maps and following the Constitution.

You clowns know you can’t win without cheating, race-baiting, and drawing maps based on skin color. That’s the real desperation.

Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach.

The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.

I would love it if somebody explained what this meant, in terms a sober person can understand.  Been reading some variant of this for decades, and it never made a lick of sense.  SCOTUS finally agreed.

The Supreme Court has been chipping away at our elections for years. It is clearly carrying out Donald Trump’s will with this decision.

New York has always led the fight for voting rights and we’ll lead again.

I’m working with the Legislature to change New York’s redistricting process so we can fight back against Washington’s attempts to rig our democracy.

Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

Alabama Republicans push for new congressional map after seismic Supreme Court ruling: ‘It’s time to act’

John Sharp, Ruth Serven Smith, Mike Cason  |  Updated: Apr. 29, 2026, 4:46 p.m.  |  Published: Apr. 29, 2026, 11:58 a.m.

An earthquake‑level Supreme Court ruling that weakens the 1965 Voting Rights Act is triggering major questions about Alabama’s congressional map and the future of its elections from Congress to local school boards.

The 6–3 decision Wednesday struck down Louisiana’s map as a racial gerrymander.

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshal said the state “will act as quickly as possible to apply this ruling to Alabama’s redistricting efforts and ensure that our congressional maps reflect the will of the people, not a racial quota system the Constitution forbids.”  .  .  .

This has been a sticky issue here in Alabama.  Twice in the past three years, federal courts have struck down redistricting maps.  But Steve Marshall has been an outstanding AG, and I expect him to act quickly to submit a new one.

Thing is after Biden's open borders presidency, American born blacks are closing in on the smallest major American ethnic group, after Whites, 'Hispanics' and I suspect now 'Asians'.

When then shouldn't they have their gerrymandered districts? What about the 14th Amendment? Hispanics should get two v. Blacks because there are almost twice as many.

Of course they don't do that because it would end up one giant clusterFUBAR if the whole US was balkanized like that, and completely undo the idea of equality.

You did it to yourselves stupid jackhole Rats. Laughing at you, not with you.

Obama Slams Supreme Court Ruling Voiding Race-Based Gerrymandering

Elizabeth Weibel29 Apr 20261,460

Former President Barack Obama joined several Democrats in criticizing the Supreme Court’s ruling voiding a race-based redistricting map in Louisiana, stating that it “effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act.”

In a post on X, Obama claimed that the decision was “one more example of how a majority of the current” Supreme Court justices seem “intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy.”

“Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities – so long as they do it under the guise of ‘partisanship’ rather than explicit ‘racial bias,'” Obama said. “And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach.”

Breitbart News’s Katherine Hamilton reported that in a 6-3 ruling, the conservative majority on the Supreme Court found that the map was “an unconstitutional gerrymander”:
