What a shock!

A majority of New York State voters say their electricity bills are unreasonable — and nearly 70% fear controversial green energy mandates will send prices even higher, a new poll found.

The poll, conducted for The Business Council of New York State, found 80% worry their utility bills could become unaffordable within the next year.

Approximately 70% of New York State voters in a poll conducted by The Business Council of New York State said their electricity bills are too expensive and fear new green energy mandates will only increase prices that much more.

The state climate change laws set goals and deadlines to replace fossil fuel power sources with clean energy such as solar and wind, but critics call the timelines unrealistic and say the requirements are sending prices soaring.

Oh, come on mayor.  Just promise everyone free electricity and problem over.  New Yorkers will buy it.

Just take over the electric providers.  Be the Venezuela of New England.
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

This yenta at my old office claimed the Long Island schools were the best in the country because they were so expensive.  I didn't get around to asking about utilities, but I'm sure their electricity is superior to ours in every way imaginable.

Not only their electricity bills, but also their natural gas bills.  Enjoy living in the cold and in the dark.

Correct, and I don't see that changing any time soon.

Yeppers.  It doesn't makes sense, but neither do liberals.
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

Nothing's going to be done in New York state to discard the "green energy timeline" that is currently in place by force of state law which was put there by people who had no idea where the replacement energy was going to come from once the existing fossil fuel productions systems had been outlawed.

Things will get worse, and worse, and worse until there's a total collapse.

One would think that the powers-that-be (the legislature) would try to avert disaster just before a collapse, but remember these are idelogical leftists who will probably never do that --- because to do so would be a rebuke to the leftism/communism that they cling to for dear life.

I doubt that even AFTER "the collapse", they'll try to get things going again.
They'll just blame it on the evil facist/nazi Republicans (of which there are very few in elected NY state government).

It's gonna be an interesting show.
Reminds me of a very good series of novels by James Kuntsler:
- World Made by Hand -- followed by three sequels in the series,
- The Witch of Hebron (2010)
- A History of the Future (2014)
- The Harrows Of Spring (2016).
... about an upstate county living in a world without petroleum.

Almost a perfect overlay of liberal states, save Oregon/Washington which have cheap hydroelectric that keep prices low.

Fear it?  Nonsense.  They voted for it.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-
