Testifying on Capitol Hill, Army Secretary Dan Driscoll asked lawmakers to continue supporting soldiers as they train and transform for the future fight.
“Our soldiers are the very best in the world,” he said before the House Appropriations defense subcommittee. “They’re bold, decisive and they can solve any problem that’s presented to them.”
Since becoming the 26th secretary of the Army last February, Driscoll said he has spent 130 days traveling to visit and talk to soldiers around the world. “What I heard was clear. Our soldiers are ready to innovate and win, but bureaucracy and regulations are still holding them back,” Driscoll said. “Everything we do in this room, in the Pentagon, in the Capitol building should support our soldiers.”
Driscoll, who testified alongside Army Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Christopher LaNeve, who also is serving as acting Army chief of staff, thanked lawmakers for supporting the Army “for decades.”
