Iran’s new supreme leader has declared “Israel will not live to see another 15 years” in a chilling affirmation of the Islamic Republic’s enmity towards the Jewish state.

“Death to Israel” and “Death to America” remain the regime’s slogans, according to the statement from Mojtaba Khamenei aired on Tuesday morning by Iran’s state broadcaster.

The rhetoric echoes the claim a decade by his father Ali Khamenei, the previous Supreme Leader, that Israel would not survive another 25 years.

Trump convenes rare Camp David Cabinet meeting as Iran deal pressure grows

President Donald Trump will convene a rare Cabinet meeting at Camp David Wednesday as negotiations with Iran enter a critical phase.

All Cabinet members are expected to attend the meeting, first reported by the New York Post and confirmed by Fox News, including outgoing Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.

The gathering comes as the administration weighs next steps in high-stakes negotiations aimed at securing a broader agreement with Tehran amid a fraying ceasefire.

Trump in recent days has suggested the sides are nearing a potential breakthrough, while Iranian officials have publicly pushed back on claims that a deal is imminent.

Camp David historically has been reserved for major national security and diplomatic deliberations. Trump hosted meetings on the property 15 times during his first term as president.

On June 8, 2025, Trump hosted Cabinet members and senior officials at Camp David for discussions on Iran and Gaza. Weeks later on June 22, 2025, Trump directed U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. ................

You say that with sarcasm I hope.  Trump's entourage has been called to meet at Camp David.  I think Plan 'B' will soon be set into motion.  Things are too unsettled and try as they might, there's no more trying to deal with Iran with an civility or an affirmation from them that can be trusted.

That's actually the question. Who's asking? It might be Donald Trump. It could be Ahmad Vahidi. Or perhaps Xi Jinping has decided to flex his muscles in this standoff after all.

Yesterday, media outlets reported that Vahidi had turned to China for security guarantees in any potential deal with the US:

Iran is reportedly seeking Chinese guarantees before moving ahead with any potential agreement with the United States over the ongoing West Asia conflict, according to top security sources, underscoring Tehran’s continued mistrust of Washington despite active negotiations.

Sources said Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir conveyed Iran’s position to senior Chinese leadership during engagements in Beijing, as diplomatic efforts gather pace around a possible US-Iran understanding, according to the same sources.

They added that Tehran is pushing for Beijing to act as a guarantor in any future arrangement with Washington, particularly on regional security issues and Iran’s nuclear programme.

A key element under discussion, according to the sources, is the possibility that Iran could transfer its stockpile of highly enriched uranium to China, but only if it receives what they described as “high-powered guarantees” in return.
