Coal, oil, and Natural Gas have proven to be reliable energy sources, and can be used cleanly. Unless, of course, you consider Carbon Dioxide a pollutant. *(Then, red blooded critters, you exhale pollution!)
What has not been demonstrated is that human activity is responsible for changes in a climate that has been changing for 4.6 Billion years.
Zeldin is sticking with what we know. That is a responsible basis for action, and not investing trillions and the fate of our economy, industry, and people on the basis of speculation that has failed to have been substantiated in over 40 years of desperate and well funded attempts to do so.
In the meantime, standards for emissions of non-CO2 pollutants are far tighter than they were 40 years ago, and unless you live somewhere where local and state politicians are failing to do their jobs of remediating known problems, or of preventing new ones, most air, water, and soil problems fall into the category of 'legacy' problems.
