Quote
A majority of U.S. Catholic voters supported Donald Trump in his 2024 presidential victory. Yet across the broad Catholic political spectrum – even among conservative-leaning bishops – there is dismay over Trump’s unprecedented verbal assault on Pope Leo XIV, the first American to lead their church.

Leo says he is sharing a Gospel message and not directly attacking Trump or anyone else with his appeals for peace and criticism of attitudes fueling the war.

Criticism of Trump came from Archbishop Paul Coakley, head of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and from Minnesota-based Bishop Robert Barron, who only a few days ago was applauding Trump as an Easter guest at the White House. Barron called the president’s remarks “entirely inappropriate and disrespectful” and urged him to apologize.

The dismay extended into an even more solid base of Trump support — conservative Christian evangelicals. Many were appalled that Trump followed his Truth Social attack on Leo by posting an image depicting himself as a Christ-like savior.

“TAKE THIS DOWN, MR. PRESIDENT,” posted David Brody, a prominent Trump-supporting commentator with the Christian Broadcasting Network. “You’re not God. None of us are. This goes too far. It crosses the line.”

By midday Monday, the image had been taken down from Truth Social. And speaking at the White House, the president claimed that he never intended to liken himself to Jesus when he posted the picture.

“How did they come up with that?" he asked. “It’s supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better. And I do make people better. I make people a lot better."

EXCERPT

Interesting political dilemma here.  Personally, I think that Leo and Coakley needed to be brushed back for interfering with and criticizing U.S. foreign policy, but that comes at risk of alienating a lot of Catholics.  What to do?

The human dildo has something to say.

Senator Mark Kelly
@SenMarkKelly
As a Catholic, I find it abhorrent that the President of the United States would publicly attack the Successor of St. Peter. Donald Trump is flailing. His war in Iran has led to the death and injury of American servicemembers and the death of Iranian children. He will attack anyone or anything to try to protect himself, even the Church that millions of Americans find faith and comfort in every day. The American people deserve a president who understands the consequences of his words and takes responsibility for his actions.

Okay, I'm Catholic. I think the Pope should stay in his lane and deal with spiritual matters and those of the Church.
Let Trump deal with politics.

Pope Leo Celebrates Christian Genocide in Algeria
One million Catholics shrank to 8,000 through mass murder.
April 16, 2026 by Daniel Greenfield

Order Daniel Greenfield’s new book, Domestic Enemies: The Founding Fathers’ Fight Against the Left: HERE.

In 1955, Algeria had over 1 million Catholics and 140,000 Jews. Today, as Pope Leo visits Algeria, there are some 8,000 Catholics in Algeria and there are fewer than 200 Jews.

99% of the population of what was one of the old territories of Christianity are Sunni Muslims.

Was Islam so popular that all the Christians and Jews decided to convert? Not at all. They were persecuted, murdered, tortured and driven out by Islamic violence that occurred in our lifetimes.

Christians and Jews had lived in Algeria since Roman times. Now they’re gone.

This Christian genocide was endorsed by major world powers, aided and abetted by the French government and celebrated in movies, books and classroom lessons. And by Pope Leo XIV.

Bomb threat at home of Pope Leo’s brother: Police
by Patrick Djordjevic - 04/16/26 8:00 AM ET

NewsNation) — A bomb threat occurred at the home of the brother of Pope Leo XIV on Wednesday night, police in Illinois confirmed.

The New Lenox Police Department issued a statement acknowledging the threat at the home, but after a comprehensive search, it was determined to be unsubstantiated.

No injuries were reported and residents in the area have been allowed to return to their homes after evacuating, per police requests. Bomb-sniffing K-9s were used in the search.

“The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the origin of the report,” police said. “Making false reports of this nature is a serious offense and may result in criminal charges.”

“The New Lenox Police Department thanks the community for its cooperation and patience during the investigation. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the NLPD at 815-485-2500 or submit an anonymous tip through the Village of New Lenox website @ Form Center • Submit a Crime Tip,” they wrote.

Earlier this week, President Trump saluted Louis Prevost in a Truth Social post criticizing Pope Leo XIV’s comments against the U.S. conflict in Iran, and the need for peace.

“Louis is all MAGA. He gets it, and Leo doesn’t!” Trump said in the post. “I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon.”
