Report: DOJ Investigating J6 Committee 'Star Witness' for Perjury

Remember that “star witness” who appeared before the hopelessly biased J6 Committee, Cassidy Hutchinson, a senior aide to then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows during Trump's first term?

She made a number of wild claims in her testimony in front of what was officially called “The House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol,” including the highly dubious allegation that Trump tried to grab the steering wheel of his armored car from a Secret Service agent. According to Hutchinson, the president demanded to be taken back to the Capitol, where his supporters were gathering.

Small problem: she had only heard the story second-hand — and the driver said it never happened.

Now, the Department of Justice has opened an investigation into Hutchinson for perjury. This is according to The New York Times, which can barely disguise its disdain in its slanted coverage:

    The Justice Department has assigned its civil rights division to investigate Cassidy Hutchinson, a former White House aide who outraged President Trump four years ago after her testimony before Congress implicated him in the violence that erupted at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to four people familiar with the matter.

JUST IN: FBI Arrests Former Army Special Operations Employee For Leaking Classified National Defense Information to Media

The FBI arrested a former Special Operations Command employee for leaking classified national defense information to the media.

Courtney Williams, 40, of Wagram, North Carolina, allegedly transmitted classified material to individuals not authorized to see it, including a journalist, the DOJ said.

She was arrested on Tuesday and indicted by a federal grand jury on Wednesday.

Per FBI Director Kash Patel:

    FBI and our partners have arrested a former SOCOM employee, who supported our top-level military warfighters, for allegedly transmitting classified information to a member of the media.

    Outstanding work by FBI Charlotte and the FBI Counterintelligence & Espionage Division – as well as our DOJ partners.

    Let this serve as a message to any would-be leakers: we’re working these cases, and we’re making arrests. This FBI will not tolerate those who seek to betray our country and put Americans in harm’s way.
