A Democratic activist says multiple women are preparing to accuse Rep. Eric Swalwell of sexual harassment, potentially throwing a wrench into California’s already crowded governor’s race.

Cheyenne Hunt, a lawyer, former congressional candidate, and executive director of Gen-Z for Change, said early Monday that she is working with several women who plan to come forward with allegations against the California Democrat.

“I got involved because the first victim who approached me is a close friend, but when I saw that there were others who’s experiences fit the same pattern of manipulation and abuse of power, I knew I couldn’t stay silent,” Hunt wrote in a thread on X. She said the allegations involve “DMs [direct messages] and Snapchat messages” and range “from uncomfortable comments to potentially criminal conduct.”

Hunt claimed Swalwell targeted “employees, interns, and fans” and presented himself “as a mentor just to exploit that power.”

Swalwell’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D., Calif.) will "soon" face sexual harassment allegations from a number of "credible women," including former staffers, according to the leader of the left-wing advocacy group Gen-Z for Change, who said she has been "personally working" with the women to expose a "pattern of manipulation and abuse of power."

The group's executive director, Cheyenne Hunt, detailed the impending allegations against Swalwell, who is running for governor of California, in a series of social media posts. Her original video was posted to Instagram in late March and cited a text from a woman who wrote, "You know Eric Swalwell has slept with many of his interns and makes them all sign NDAs so they don't speak up, right? And when I was 19 he tried hitting on me and sliding into my DMs and I have so many other friends that have similar experiences with him." Hunt said the message was "not an anomaly" but "part of a pattern."
 
Hunt followed up in a video posted Sunday, titled "Why I Came Forward About Eric Swalwell." She said she is "personally working with a group of women who want to come forward and share their stories" and is "also aware of a much larger group that is also in this process." A "shocking" number of "credible" women came forward after Hunt posted her first video, she added. She did not respond to a request for comment.

California gubernatorial candidate Rep. Eric Swalwell's, D-Calif., campaign broke their silence on allegations circulated by Cheyenne Hunt, a former Capitol Hill staffer and a political media personality, fiercely denying any sexual misconduct towards former staffers or interns.

"This false, outrageous rumor is being spread 27 days before an election begins by flailing opponents who have sadly teamed up with MAGA conspiracy theorists because they know Eric Swalwell is the frontrunner in this race," Micah Beasley, a spokesperson for Swalwell, told the New York Post.

Hunt, who now runs a youth political engagement group called Gen-Z for Change, a left-leaning group, began highlighting accusations that Swalwell had a practice of making sexual advances with women on his staff last week.

The source of these claims, Cheyenne Hunt, is a progressive political insider who claimed she was friends with one of the women and wanted to spread the word so that more women would come forward to share their experiences. She claimed that was indeed happening behind the scenes.

What was lacking was confirmation in the form of a published story by a major news outlet. As recently as Wednesday, Hunt was telling people those stories were coming but needed to be vetted first to ensure they would be air-tight.

Today, the San Francisco Chronicle published the first such story. It's headlined, "Former staffer says Rep. Eric Swalwell, candidate for California governor, sexually assaulted her."

A woman who worked for nearly two years for Rep. Eric Swalwell, a leading candidate for California governor, said she had sexual encounters with him while he was her boss and alleged he twice sexually assaulted her when she was too intoxicated to consent...

The woman said Swalwell began pursuing her within weeks after she was hired at age 21 to work in the Democrat’s district office in Castro Valley in 2019. Swalwell messaged her on Snapchat, she said, sending images of his genitals and seeking nude pictures of her in return.

The Chronicle shared a summary of the woman's allegations with Swalwell's campaign prior to the publication of the story. Late last night the campaign sent the woman a cease and desist letter. The first page of that letter was posted today by Cheyenne Hunt who said she had been given permission to share it.

The Chronicle reports that in addition to threatening the woman with a lawsuit for defamation, the letter said, "the credibility of your accusations is fatally undermined by your voluntary and cooperative relationship with Mr. Swalwell over the course of many years following the period in question."

My emphasis. For chronological reference, Swillwell married his current wife in 2016. The Comical is not a conservative paper. Also, it's an SF paper, and Swillwell's district is just across San Francisco Bay and a little south of SF.

My confirmation bias is obvious, but I think you don't have to look too deeply between the lines to see that the cease-and-desist letter all but admits their relationship had been more than business at the office.

ETA: The LA Times, SacBee, SJ Murky Skews, and San Diego Union-Tribune have articles about this story. The Orange County Register just has an opinion piece that is behind their paywall that seems to be about it. The faucet is dripping pretty hard/fast.

House Democrat leadership called for Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) to end his campaign to be the next governor of California in light of allegations of sexual assault brought against him.


House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) shared a statement from him, House Democratic Caucus Chair Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-CA), and House Minority Whip Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA), in which they described the accusations as being “incredibly disturbing.” The lawmakers also called for a “swift investigation” into the accusations.


The statement from the lawmakers comes after a woman, who previously worked as a staffer for Swalwell, told the San Francisco Chronicle of two separate incidents in which she was allegedly sexually assaulted by Swalwell.

In one incident in September 2019, the woman says that after having drinks with Swalwell and becoming “so severely intoxicated that she does not remember the rest of the night,” she allegedly ended up waking up “naked in Swalwell’s hotel bed and could feel the effect of vaginal intercourse.”

In another instance in April 2024, the woman and Swalwell “met for drink,” and the woman “became so inebriated that she only remembers snippets.” The woman says she remembers “pushing Swalwell away and telling him, ‘No.'”:

A couple of clarifications:

1. Ed Buck's tastes were 20-something black male prostitutes. Buck is in prison now.

2. The election this coming June is the primary. While it is hypothetically possible that Rs Hilton and Bianco could win the two places on the November ballot, Hilton and Swillwell were topping the opinion polls. If, as is very possible, there is more on the Dem side to the current piling on, I do not think it was fear of Hilton. It may be from Porter or Steyer supporters, but that would be high-risk for either.

A lot of it is privileged.” And Swalwell “takes accountability for potential lapses in judgment. But, again, categorically denies any wrongdoing.”

Dabaie talked about sending cease and desist letters to several accusers and said that “we believe that these claims are false.”

Four women have accused married Eric Swalwell of horrific acts of sexual assault and misconduct — including a former staffer who claims he raped her.

The California governor candidate’s campaign was hanging by a thread Friday when the alleged victims aired bombshell details of what they say happened to them.

One of the women, a former staffer, claimed he raped her when she was drunk and left her bruised and bleeding during the alleged 2024 attack.

She also claimed she woke up naked next to him in a hotel room in 2019 after a heavy night of drinking and felt physically like they had sex.
