New-building boondoggle? Obama judge maintains block on investigation into possible crimes at the Fed
Says government hasn't provided evidence after he canceled subpoenas seeking evidence

An appeal is looming in a fight over evidence in an investigation into possible crimes at the Federal Reserve regarding the massively expensive rehab of its offices.

That's after James Boasberg, a federal judge in Washington who has spent years already opposing President Donald Trump and trying to undermine him, refused to reconsider his order.

He earlier had blocked subpoenas tied to a criminal investigation into Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and the hundreds of millions of dollars spent on office improvements.

The judge complained, after he blocked efforts to obtain evidence, that prosecutors failed to present new evidence or identify legal error in his ruling.

Congress is the entity to determine whether these costs are justified.

It is not doing its job in ensuring the people's money is properly being spent.

If this were 1926, my friend, you would be absolutely correct.  But in the "modern" legal era, someone has made the use of the Constitution optional but not required.  Modern judges need only be good writers, to cover their decisions behind word salad and rule on their feelings and political beliefs.  They are well aware congress is too cowardly to challenge their rulings.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
So how exactly does one present new evidence if the request to obtain evidence is blocked? What then are you exactly supposed to use to convince the judge who's denied you access to gain that very evidence?
