Key Iranian Bridge Severed By Airstrikes (Updated)
The bridge near Tehran, a critical artery and source of pride for Iran, was taken out soon after Trump’s threat to bomb the country “back to the Stone Ages.”

US and Israeli forces struck the B1 bridge connecting Tehran to western regions, hitting Iran’s highest bridge linking Tehran and Karaj, a major transport artery opened earlier this year.

Amajor bridge near Tehran was struck today by what Iran has said were U.S.-Israeli strikes. The B1 bridge in Alborz province, one of the tallest in the Middle East, was hit in two waves of attacks, separated by around an hour, Iranian state TV reported. The bridge provides a critical link between Tehran and Karaj. The attack comes a day after U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to bomb Iran “back to the Stone Ages.”

“A few minutes ago, the American-Zionist enemy once again targeted the B1 bridge in Karaj,” a city west of Tehran, state TV said earlier today, adding that the first strike had caused two civilian casualties.

It said the later attack took place as emergency teams were deployed to the site to help victims of the first strike. We cannot confirm this claim.

Imagery posted to social media showed a clear breach in the road bridge, which connects Tehran and Karaj.

Earlier this week, Trump threatened to “completely obliterate” all Iranian electrical-generation plants and oil wells. This led to questions about whether the U.S. military was being primed to commit potential war crimes under international law, with the campaign expanding to include civilian targets as a matter of policy.

I can hear the American media now, berating Trump for bombing the bridge where civilians below could have been hurt by debris falling from it.

90 million people, back the stone age.  So much for liberating the Iranians.  Those crocodile tears for the protestors must have dried up.

This isn't a civilian bridge.  It is a bridge used exclusively by the IRGC:

The bridge that was bombed wasn't even connected to the city of Tehran, but to a purely IRGC-run area of operations within Tehran Province which contains underground bases and missile launchers.

So many of you really bleep this news story up, didn't you.

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

@cato potatoe   how would you propose at this point that the Trump administration liberate the Iranian people??  Iranian leadership has killed tens of thousand of Iranian protestors.  Iran is not interested in any cease fire that has been proposed, they are still bombing Israel and neighboring nations, so how do you liberate the innocents?  Yes, it is an atrocity and absolutely a humanitarian crisis, and I haven't even heard the U.N. condemning the Iranian leadership for slaughtering their own people.
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
