That looked like the attacker was using a previously wrecked vehicle to sucker someone in.
The second that twit climbed onto the hood, he should either reverse out from under him, or hit the throttle going forward to dislodge the attacker and call the police from somewhere further down the highway.
This reminds me of the 'hitchhiker' gambit, where a reasonably good looking woman would be hitching a ride, only to be joined by a bunch of guys when the driver stopped. Results varied, but were seldom good for the driver.
