Texas Cities Approve Ramadan Proclamations

Texas Scorecard by Hunter Burney March 31, 2026

The Islamic season has been recognized by mayors and city councils alike.

A growing number of Ramadan proclamations have been approved by city councils and mayors across Texas. The cities of McKinney, DeSoto, Richardson, and Cedar Park are among those confirmed to have made the announcements recognizing the Islamic season.

The City of McKinney Ramadan proclamation states that the season “marks the first revelation of the Qur’an to the Prophet Muhammed,” and was signed by Mayor Bill Cox. Cox is a professed member of the First United Methodist Church of McKinney and cites this as a reflection of his “strong faith.”

McKinney has also issued a proclamation in the past recognizing Diwali, a major Hindu holiday, according to TX3DNews.

Surprised Plano isn't on that list.  They were lousy with muzzies when I lived in the Metroplex.
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.
