Donald Trump Says He'd Consider Putting Ron DeSantis in His Administration After Governor Term Expires

President Donald Trump told reporters on Tuesday, March 24, that he'd "certainly consider" adding Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to his administration once DeSantis' term ends in January 2027

The two Republicans had previously clashed and traded insults while competing for the party's 2024 presidential nomination

DeSantis suggested to Fox News host Sean Hannity on Tuesday that he might give the presidency another go in 2028

President Donald Trump isn’t ruling out a possible role for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, his former Republican presidential primary opponent, in his second administration.

Asked on Tuesday, March 24, by NewsNation’s Libbey Dean whether he’d consider a position for DeSantis in Washington once DeSantis wraps his second term as governor in January 2027, Trump said he’d “certainly consider it.”

“I think he’s good,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “Doing a good job.”

DeSantis, a former congressman and Navy JAG officer, was first elected governor of Florida in 2018 and won reelection in 2022. Florida’s constitution prevents governors from serving more than two consecutive terms, meaning DeSantis is ineligible to run again this year but could presumably toss his hat back in the ring in 2030..............

Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

I just don’t get this guy.

As soon as Ron ran, Trump turned on him and ripped in.

Way back in ‘16, he ripped into Rubio complete with his Li’l Marco name-calling.  Now he’s SOS.

There will be a battle royale between the mini-Trumps - Vance and DeSantis - in the White House.

Just my $.02 of advice, but RDS needs to stay low and steer clear of the Trumpisphere, just in case the political winds blow wrong '26 - '28.

Trump's lyin' Ted meme almost cost him his senatorial run in '18.  He beat Beto by only 1 1/2 %.

  • Didn't vote for McCain Dole Romney Trump !
It wasn't too long about when asked about Pence for President that Trump would not commit ... Talk about a slap in the face of Pence...

I agree with Catfish, I think I would lay low if I was DeSantis because Trump is just too unstable to work under without being thrown under the bus.

Yeah, if DeSantis is serious about his post-gov political future, he needs to stay away from the Trump Administration.  2028 will be about Vance vs Rubio...two different completely world views there.  DeSantis should hang back and let the dust settle then.
