Good! Europe can toss off. I'm tired of this deep state style nanny lecturing, color revolution scolding bs. This ain't freakin' church, moralize your self-righteous sanctimony to someone else.

The numbers to keep NATO around don't add up. Not only is Europe parasiting off us so that they can have their impossible welfare states, but now they are self-destructing by trying to turn themselves into the very Muslim psychos we are fighting right now, today.

If we keep playing this game, one day Europe won't be sometime allies but full blown enemies. Pulling out of NATO will go a long way toward nipping that at the bud.

EU has 4-5X the GDP of Russia.  Has nukes, and an overall more modern military.  Then add that Russia has been signicantly weakened by 4 years with Ukraine?

The USSR doesn't exist anymore, and neither should NATO.

Ah yes but the Lincoln Project has moved the goalposts. Now we must keep NATO because Russia IS a threat to Europe now, despite the fact at the beginning of this Ukraine thing I was absolutely, positively assured the Europe could wipe it's arse with Russia any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I agree with you on the basic premise, and as I said above strategically it will help blunt the Muslim takeover of Europe down the road.

Trump says US could ‘take’ Iran’s uranium after strikes:

President Donald Trump said the U.S. would "take" Iran’s enriched uranium if necessary — raising questions about how American forces could physically secure the material after strikes on nuclear sites.

"Iran will not have a nuclear weapon, and we're going to get the dust back. We'll get it back. Either we'll get it back from them or we'll take it," Trump said at the White House Monday, referring to Iran's enriched uranium stockpiles.

The comments also come after high-stakes negotiations between the United States and Iran in Pakistan over the weekend ended without a deal, with disputes over uranium enrichment and control of nuclear material at the center of the impasse.

With diplomacy stalled, a key challenge remains: airpower can damage nuclear facilities, but physically locating, securing and removing enriched uranium would require a far more complex operation.

Iran is believed to possess a significant stockpile of uranium enriched to 60%, near weapons-grade — material that could be further refined for use in nuclear weapons if not brought under control.

Analysts say securing the material itself would likely require forces on the ground.

"If the U.S. wants to secure Iran’s nuclear materials, it’s going to require a massive ground operation," Kelsey Davenport, director of nonproliferation policy at the Arms Control Association, told Fox News Digital.........

Iran threatens to block shipping beyond Strait of Hormuz if US blockade continues

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps threatened to block shipping beyond the Strait of Hormuz if the U.S. continues its blockade on Iranian ports Wednesday.

IRGC leader Maj. Gen. Ali Abdollahi said Iranian forces would attempt to block "any exports or imports to continue in the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman, and the Red Sea."

Abdollahi said any move by the U.S. to create "insecurity" for Iranian shipping vessels would "constitute a prelude to a violation of the ceasefire."

This tells me two things.

1. The blockade is having the desired impact.

2. They are not thinking through their responses out at all.

It would be far easier to engage the blockade than to try and surround it...not even sure how that is at all possible.

IIRC, they have somewhere between 2 and 10 'midget' submarines unaccounted for. It is uncertain how many are operational. They are small diesel electrics with a range of about 550 nautical miles and which carry torpedoes and possibly (depending on which survive) antiship missiles. Because of their size, the number of missiles or torpedoes is limited, per vessel, but any could be a problem. The subs can also lay mines.

Thanks...   that's disconcerning.  I hope we have some kind of sonar or response.

I have little doubt we do, but those boats are small (under 120 tons), quiet (diesel electrics running on batteries don't make much noise) and can lay on a complex bottom geometry and hide, to 'ambush hunt' other vessels. It's why the standoff distance for the carriers, which can still operate with mid air refueling at a distance.

Unless the midget subs can figure out how to refuel at sea (good chance to catch them on the surface), their range is limited, even for one-way suicide missions.

NO. There has been no significant increase in CAPEX here, and 'breakeven' prices are considered around $60 for new wells. We're much higher that that, now, but I think this is viewed as a short term spike in prices, not a long term trend. It all depends on the outcome of the War over there, and we should know in 90 days if the Dems don't screw this operation up.

In 1920 Crude was selling for $3.07 per barrel. https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=pet&s=f000000__3&f=a

A 1920 $ = $16.5107. https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/1920

So, if the price of crude merely kept up with inflation it would be $3.07 X $16.51 = $50.69 per barrel.

$60 per barrel is not exorbitant.

$60 per barrel is not exorbitant.

Especially when you consider the change in demand.

Which indicates an increase in production to meet that demand.

In 1920, the US produced approximately 443 million barrels of oil.
In 2025, the US produced over 487 billion barrels of oil.

Been away so long, wasn't sure of he economic data.  Have seen plenty of reports where the Russian's break point of profitability was very near $50/bbl.  Our $60/bbl costs just shows how much taxation and regulatory burden is put on our industry.  Not just in oil. but about everything.

The playing field is not level, and we have to rely on innovation, and hard work.

Iran shifts 20M barrels through ‘dark’ offshore oil network bypassing US port blockade, firm says
Sanctioned and falsely flagged vessels remain active despite CENTCOM turning back nine oil tankers in first 48 hours
By Emma Bussey Fox News

Iran is moving tens of millions of barrels of oil through covert offshore networks to bypass the new U.S. blockade on its ports, maritime intelligence firm Windward AI says.

The blockade, which took effect April 13, came amid a two-week ceasefire and failed peace talks between the U.S. and Iran, and as President Donald Trump insisted the waterway must remain open. Roughly 20% of the world’s oil passes through it.

"Iranian oil distribution continues through indirect routing and offshore transfer networks," Windward told Fox News Digital.

"As of April 13, at least 11 tankers carrying approximately 20 million barrels of Iranian oil are positioned offshore Malaysia within a ship-to-ship transfer hub," the firm determined.

I don't believe they are bluffing, but normally Trump is one step ahead.

Iranian official warns US warships in Strait of Hormuz are within missile range

A senior Iranian official warned that U.S. warships in the Strait of Hormuz are within striking range, claiming American naval forces are now “under our missile launchers.”

Iran International reported that Mohsen Rezai, a military adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, made the remarks in a video, escalating tensions in the strategic waterway.

“The launchers have most likely been moved by our brothers and are now aimed at the Abraham Lincoln and all American warships,” Rezai said. “They are all under our launchers now and we will sink them all. We will not allow a single one to escape us.”

Israeli strike on Hezbollah more devastating than 2024 pager attack, IDF says
The strike hit an unusually broad layer of Hezbollah's middle ranks across Lebanon, a former Mossad official says
By Efrat Lachter Fox News
Published April 15, 2026 3:00pm EDT

Hezbollah, an Iran-backed terrorist group, saw its command structure across Lebanon come under what Israeli officials described as one of the most devastating blows of the war April 8.

Nearly simultaneously, explosions tore through Beirut, Lebanon, the Beqaa Valley and southern Lebanon as roughly 50 Israeli aircraft struck more than 100 Hezbollah targets.

The targets were not rocket launchers or weapons depots, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), but the nerve centers of the organization — command rooms, intelligence headquarters and offices where Hezbollah commanders planned the next stage of the fight.

The strike marked a new phase in the war between Israel and Hezbollah, which erupted March 2 after Hezbollah entered the conflict in support of Iran, one day after U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran and the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Since then, Hezbollah has fired rockets, drones and anti-tank missiles into northern Israel, while Israel has responded with widening airstrikes and a ground offensive inside southern Lebanon.

That is what I expected - a spike only.

Would be surprised if some workovers were not undertaken that have been on the backburner - like a cleanout.

A ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah could be announced within days as efforts intensify to contain a broader Middle East conflict after weeks of fighting in southern Lebanon.

The Financial Times reported that Lebanese officials expect a truce “soon,” with a deal potentially taking effect this week after Israeli forces complete operations in the southern town of Bint Jbeil, citing people familiar with the discussions.

The push for a ceasefire comes as the conflict in Lebanon complicates wider efforts to secure a lasting agreement between the U.S. and Iran, with disagreements over whether Hezbollah’s role is covered under the broader truce and U.S. officials emphasizing the situations are separate.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said operations against Hezbollah are continuing, describing Bint Jbeil as a stronghold, as officials signal any ceasefire in Lebanon could ultimately hinge on the durability of the fragile U.S.-Iran pause.

In 1920 Crude was selling for $3.07 per barrel. https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=pet&s=f000000__3&f=a

A 1920 $ = $16.5107. https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/1920

So, if the price of crude merely kept up with inflation it would be $3.07 X $16.51 = $50.69 per barrel.

$60 per barrel is not exorbitant.

When I started as a field engineer in 1973, all our economics were done on the basis of $3/b oil.

And we did a lot of drilling and workovers.

Victor Davis Hanson on PodForce1 with Miranda Devine delivered the kind of historical framing nobody else on television can provide — because nobody else has spent 50 years reading Thucydides, Plutarch, and military dispatches the way he has.

His central verdict on Trump and Iran: "𝘏𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘺𝘦𝘥, 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥, 𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘸 𝘶𝘱 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘮𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘐𝘳𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳." Reagan, both Bushes, Clinton, Obama, Biden — 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 called Iran an existential threat. Every one of them refused to touch it. The bipartisan foreign policy establishment swore Iran was indomitable. Trump asked, why? And in five weeks he dismantled their navy, air force, anti-aircraft, nuclear sites, top leadership, and command structure — with 𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐨 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝.

The strategic chess move ahead is elegant. VDH argues Trump doesn't have to invade Kharg Island — the 8-square-mile Persian Gulf terminal that handles 𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 of Iran's crude exports. He's about to meet Xi Jinping, and 𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐫𝐚𝐧'𝐬 𝐨𝐢𝐥 𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚 (U.S. Energy Information Administration). The leverage writes itself. Tell Xi: pressure the mullahs or we blockade the Chinese tankers themselves. Not adversarial. Art of the deal. And VDH notes Iran has already suffered "𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘧 𝘢 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘴" in military and infrastructure damage acquired over 47 years. A decade of rebuilding ahead of them — while their own population can't afford bread or gasoline. This is exactly what Reagan did to the Soviets with Pershing missiles and Star Wars: economic strangulation until the regime collapses under its own weight.

Then VDH turned his fire on the right-wing critics actively sabotaging Trump over this campaign. His math is unanswerable. Trump has delivered 𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐲-𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 of the agenda Tucker, Megyn, Candace, and Alex Jones claim to want. Over a half-million criminal illegals deported. Another 1.5 million self-deported. Crime at all-time lows. Largest oil and gas producer in history. First president to dismantle DEI in the federal bureaucracy, the Pentagon, and the U.S. Olympic Committee. First to take on Harvard and Stanford. And they're going to torpedo turnout in the midterms because of one Iran disagreement? VDH's challenge to them: "𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦?" The alternative isn't purer MAGA. It's revenge DEI, revenge open borders, revenge lawfare — another Kamala-style regime that burns down everything Trump just built.

And he names the incoherence of the left beautifully. Monday Trump is Hitler for bombing. Tuesday he's Chamberlain for negotiating. VDH's recommended tweet for Trump: "𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘶𝘺𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘐'𝘮 𝘏𝘪𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘳 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳, 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦. 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘐'𝘮 𝘊𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘭."

His verdict on the Biden years was devastating and precise. Not just the worst president in his lifetime — but something stranger. VDH's assessment: Biden was "𝘯𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘴 𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴." The country was actually run by a cabal of 20-30 Obama alumni using Biden as "𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘹𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘺." The open border. The Afghan surrender that killed 13 Americans. DEI metastasizing through every federal agency. The $7 billion in COVID funds that vanished. California's $250 billion Medicaid fraud. Minnesota's $9 billion Feeding Our Future scandal. "𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘢 𝘫𝘶𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘦 𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘦, 𝘰𝘳 𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘴 𝘢 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭 m∗rderer 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬, 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘥" — the radical judicial appointments are still generating the insane rulings we see every week.

And then the literary frame only VDH can give. Trump is the archetype from Sophocles' Ajax, from John Ford's The Searchers, from Shane. The morally flawed outsider society summons to save it — then shuns because he's polluted by doing what no one else would do. "𝘐'𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘦" Trump has absorbed, VDH says. Four trials. The Mar-a-Lago raid. De-balloting cases. Two impeachments. Two assassination attempts. And the man is still standing — still building.

During a visit to southern Lebanon today, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir says he approved new battle plans for both Lebanon and Iran.

He also says that over 1,700 Hezbollah operatives have been killed in Lebanon since hostilities escalated last month.

"Yesterday I approved plans for the future, together with the General Staff Forum. We continue to conduct ongoing situation assessments and approve plans both in Lebanon and in Iran," he is quoted by the IDF as saying during a visit to the 162nd Division in the Beit Lif area.

"In the joint operation with the US military, we struck the Iranian terror regime severely, stripped them of their defensive capabilities, and weakened them. Now we must not allow them achievements in the nuclear issue, in [the Strait of] Hormuz, and in the other issues on the agenda," Zamir says.

He says that the IDF is at "a very high level of readiness."

"Air Force aircraft are armed and ready, and the targets are loaded on the systems, we know how to launch them for a powerful strike immediately," Zamir continues.

"Hezbollah has more than 1,700 killed since the start of the campaign. This is a severe blow to the terror organization," he says.

Zamir adds that he has instructed "that all the area in southern Lebanon up to the Litani [River] line will become a killing zone for Hezbollah terrorists."

Yeah. In 1973, you could buy a brand new car for $2000, a half ton pickup for about $3000 and a Cadillac Sedan DeVille for under $6,500.

I didn't break out until '79, but I could still get a heavy half ton Chevy with a 350 engine set up to burn propane or gasoline for under $8000.

Oil was up to $18, and we were having a boom...
