The U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) has entered the Gulf of Oman and positioned itself east of the Strait of Hormuz.

The carrier is located approximately 200 km south of Iran’s coastline. This is the closest point to the Persian Gulf that a U.S. aircraft carrier has reached since the start of military operations against Iran.

Because of their size and complex bathymetry in the straits, those subs can lay in wait, on bottom, and 'ambush hunt' ships. They are diesel electrics, and potentially very quiet. The more traffic there is, the harder they will be to find. Range: 550 nautical miles (just about 1000 km).

Yes, they do, and that is a weakness (even our old fleet boats had it).
But the snorkel was designed to permit charging the batteries and running close to the surface while still underwater, in order to make the boats harder to spot.

The Chinese-owned oil and chemical tanker Rich Starry successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday despite a U.S. blockade,

The Rich Starry was the first vessel to cross the strait since the U.S. imposed its blockade on Monday. The ship was initially turned back on Monday but was successful on its second attempt to cross.

The U.S. and Iran have "all the ingredients of a deal" but have yet to come to a final agreement, a senior U.S. official told Fox News' Bill Hemmer on Tuesday.

"A lot is happening today and tomorrow. We have all the ingredients of a deal, but it's not all there yet," the official told Hemmer.

The official added that President Donald Trump's blockade on Iranian ports has Tehran "really fearful" and more open to making a deal.

I thought the blockade was on ships coming/going from Iranian ports only.  The blockade at Hormuz is a 2 way blockade, both coming and going.

Let's see now about the going.

Is that deployable in a submarine environment?
How much background noise, thermal layering, and backscatter/reflection from from submarine rock formations is present and how much of an effect will it have on sonar readings and bearings? Even biologicals will make enough noise to drown out a heartbeat.
On the chart displayed here https://fishing-app.gpsnauticalcharts.com/i-boating-fishing-web-app/fishing-marine-charts-navigation.html?title=Strait+of+Hormuz+boating+app#6.88/25.830/57.026 shows a complex bottom with lots of places for a small sub to park and hide, some of which might not be readily apparent to someone doing an active sonar sweep, and which might distort, mute or reflect any small noises made by a sub sitting on the bottom.
There would be little noise with the exception of any air moving fans and carbon dioxide scrubbers, because the boat would be running on battery power and has no reactor cooling pumps. It would be as quiet as the crews could be.

That could present a problem, with those subs only making significant noise when in motion, and perhaps not even then until they reach snorkel depth or surface.

Visual ID is the most likely, and they are needles in a haystack, even on the surface.

Iran Demands Arab Countries It Bombed Pay ‘Compensation’

Iran demanded “compensation” from five Middle Eastern countries it has been bombing since early March in a letter to the UN.

First I want Iran to pay $500 billion to the US for taking over our embassy and killing/imprisoning our citizens. This predates Iran's claims. Payment to be in Iranian oil.

Then I want full compensation for Iran nullifying all oil and gas agreements with US companies when Iran nationalized its oil industry.  Once again, predates Iran's claims.   Payment to be in Iranian oil.

Then we'll discuss compensation of Iran's recent claims.

The U.S. is engaged in peace talks with Iran but has not yet agreed to extend President Donald Trump's initial two-week ceasefire, a senior U.S. official told Fox News on Wednesday.

“The United States has not formally agreed to an extension of the ceasefire. There is continued engagement between the U.S. and Iran to reach a deal," the official said.
