U.S. Forces Start Mine Clearance Mission in Strait of Hormuz

TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces began setting conditions for clearing mines in the Strait of Hormuz, April 11, as two U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers conducted operations.
USS Frank E. Peterson (DDG 121) and USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) transited the Strait of Hormuz and operated in the Arabian Gulf as part of a broader mission to ensure the strait is fully clear of sea mines previously laid by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.

“Today, we began the process of establishing a new passage and we will share this safe pathway with the maritime industry soon to encourage the free flow of commerce,” said Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of CENTCOM.
The Strait of Hormuz is an international sea passage and an essential trade corridor that supports regional and global economic prosperity. Additional U.S. forces, including underwater drones, will join the clearance effort in the coming days.

We've had 2 or 3 of these recent;ly where our members have gone apoplectic on these lies   This crap is a tool to fester dissent among us.  My rule of thumb is start with WSJ, and work down from there.  And even the WSJ isn't infallible.

As I said earlier, Rooters in particular needs to be banned within a mile of any admin official, source or governmental entity

The USS Frank E. Peterson and the USS Michael Murphy were previously in the Arabian Sea before crossing the Strait.

CENTCOM described the Strait of Hormuz Saturday as “ an international sea passage and an essential trade corridor that supports regional and global economic prosperity.”

“Additional U.S. forces, including underwater drones, will join the clearance effort in the coming days,” it said.

Iran's supreme leader severely disfigured by US strikes: report

Iran's new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei is severely disfigured after suffering leg and face injuries as a result of joint U.S.-Israel airstrikes on Tehran in February, Reuters reported Saturday.

Khamenei is recovering after incurring the injuries in the February 28 airstrikes that killed his father, former supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei. He has not been seen publicly since being hospitalized.

Despite the injuries, Khamenei allegedly remains "mentally sharp," Reuters reported, citing a trio of anonymous sources within his inner circle. The new supreme leader is in communication with the Iranian delegation in Pakistan for peace talks with a U.S. delegation led by Vice President JD Vance.

The Reuters report corroborates an earlier statement from Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, who told reporters on March 13 that Khamenei was "likely disfigured."

He then reiterated the claim in a Thursday press conference while outlining the U.S. military's achievements in Iran.

"Their top leadership was systematically eliminated, their previous Iranian supreme leader dead, the supreme national security council secretary dead, the supreme leader office advisor dead, the supreme leader military office chief dead, the defense minister no longer with us, the IRGC commander dead, the armed forces general staff commander dead, the intelligence minister dead, the IRGC navy commander no longer here, the IRGC Intel chief dead," Hegseth listed.

I have no idea what the result will be from the US-Iran peace talks.  But I do know this: (1) Iran will claim complete victory; (2) the Democrats and the Legacy Media will happily repeat Iran’s claim as true; (3) it will not be true.

According to sources familiar with the details of the talks between Iran and the United States - Behind the scenes, the talks are focused almost entirely on one issue: money.

According to those sources, the Iranians are demanding the immediate release of frozen funds totaling more than 7 billion dollars, held in Qatar and additional countries.

In addition, they are seeking permission to sell oil without sanctions, receive economic compensation, and secure a rapid flow of cash.  At the same time, the Strait of Hormuz has become Iran’s central bargaining chip.

They are demanding control and revenue from transit through it.  The severe economic distress is also the reason why very senior financial officials are involved in the talks - including the Governor of Iran’s Central Bank or equivalent high level figures.

On the American side, a tough line is being taken with significant pressure applied, but sources say the final outcome is still unclear and ultimately depends on President Trump’s decision.

Meanwhile, Gulf states are in constant contact with the United States and are applying heavy pressure not to agree to Iranian demands - especially regarding Hormuz and sanctions relief.

Lebanon is barely being discussed in the talks - the Iranians are currently focused on economic survival.

I read this as the IRGC not trusting the politicians who are negotiating with the Americans over cash.  Any funds the politicians get unfrozened wiil immediately make their way into Swiss accounts that the politicians control.  The new IRGC arrivals are there to make sure that doesn't happen.

We are negotiating because of Trump. Winning isn't enough for Trump. He is obsessed with 'making a deal'.
America was on the edge of total victory when Trump told them to STOP so he could "make a deal" instead.

Why? Who knows?
