IMHO he's dreaming if he thinks he will be supported as a leader. Too many Iranians lost families to Mohammad Reza Pahlavi's SAVAK secret police who were merely murderous and repressive on their charitable days. While some of the upper and formerly ruling class may desire this kind of thing the regular people do not.

That remains to be seen.  I was around those days 47 years ago and I clearly remember the protests about SAVAK on my college campus back then.  I especially noticed the "Death to the Shah" graffiti all over our sidewalks.  To be frank, I was pleased to wave goodbye to that bunch when their money was frozen, all their tuition checks bounced like a rubber ball, and their Student Visas were all cancelled. 

Many are now dead (executed for being Useful Idiots), and the ones who remain doubt the veracity of the claims about SAVAK.

Read reply #2464 up thread. We all pretty much know they aren't going to have an epiphany and abide by the terms, but this will be unequivocally demonstrated in short order by the regime itself.
Without the opportunity to demonstrate that, there are those pollyana types and that class of TDS sufferers who would argue that we didn't "give peace a chance".

Well, now that that has been demonstrated by the Regime to not be a viable option, (the Mullahs don't want it), perhaps we can proceed with the war, and end the ridiculous debate from some quarters that this can be peacefully negotiated with those currently in power in Iran.

According to a statement from the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, the IDF on Wednesday completed a large-scale wave of strikes targeting command centers and military infrastructure belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization across three areas simultaneously: Beirut, Beqaa, and southern Lebanon, following Hezbollah terrorists' attempts to expand their activity from Beirut northward into additional areas.

The large-scale wave of strikes was based on precise and high-quality intelligence, while using high-quality capabilities that allowed striking multiple areas simultaneously within a single minute.

Following an initial IDF intelligence assessment, it can be determined that the IDF has eliminated more than 180 Hezbollah terrorists. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit stressed that the count is ongoing at this time.

As part of the strikes, approximately 100 targets were struck in three areas simultaneously: More than 45 Hezbollah main command centers, approximately 40 military structures used by Hezbollah commanders to advance terror attacks, and multiple terror infrastructure used by the top military terrorists of the organization.
