In the context of the past 5 weeks, the US has been flying B-52s, B-1s, F-15Es, and F/A-18E/Fs in Iranian airspace for 4 weeks or more, and A-10Cs for 2 or 4 weeks (reports vary). B-52s and B-1s have the RCS and IR visibility of an adult bull African elephant. F-15Es and F/A-18E/Fs have the RCS and IR visibility of a black rhino. And A-10Cs are Warthogs. In context, what is remarkable and indicative of how things stand is that this is Iran's first shootdown.

Second US jet took enemy fire, but was not shot down, contrary to reports

Reports that a second ⁠U.S. Air Force combat ‌plane was shot down Friday in ⁠the Persian Gulf ​region are not accurate.

An A-10 Warthog attack caught "enemy fire" while a rescue operation for the U.S. crew member took place, a well-placed source told Fox News.

The New York Times reported the aircraft crashed in the Persian Gulf and that its lone pilot was rescued.

An Air Force F-15E was shot down over Iran Friday and one pilot was rescued. A search for a second crew member was underway.

OK, it takes something very powerful and accurate to down a Hawg.  I'm starting to wonder of the Russians have sent the IRGC some of their S-300s to shoot at USAF and IAF aircraft?  Something has clearly changed in the Iranian airspace over the past three-four days.  I'd be most curious to find out what.

At any rate, apparently there's an emergency meeting going on right now in the White House with Trump, all the National defense cabinet secretaries and military senior brass, and the intelligence agency heads.

Trump seems to be at a decision point, after the events over the past few days.

His options:

1)   Escalate further and take Kharg Island and those in the Strait using the USMC.

2)  Drop the 82nd Airborne onto Iran's Strait-side coastal pocket to form a defensive perimeter there and re-open Hormuz.

3)  Drop the 82nd Airborne deep into Iran, along with U.S. SpecOps, to seize and remove Iran's nuclear material.

4) Declare victory and bring the troops, sailors, and airmen home.

That image does not show the overhead AI controlled rail system - nor show the multi-tunnel branching system that guarantees undamaged missiles will always find a launch point.

Only US troops can halt the repair process. Bombs can only do so much, then its time for ground combat troops to take over with continued air support and drone suppression [ if only the US had drone killer drones ]. But they are denied them, due to 47 distaste for all things Ukraine, Maybe Putin will sell 47 some of theirs?
