Channel 12 reports the IDF is sitting this one out if boots hit the ground.

Israel will reportedly keep bombing from the air but won't send troops 1,000 miles into Iranian territory.

The logic is straightforward.

Israel doesn't have the logistics to sustain ground forces that far from home.

So the country that pressured the U.S. into this war, that struck South Pars without permission, that keeps bombing through peace talks, and whose intelligence helped justify the entire operation, won't be sending a single soldier if the mission gets dangerous enough to require ground troops.

Yesterday was the largest combined Russian attack on Ukraine. During the day, Russia launched 556 drones, and only 15 of them reached their targets - just about 3%.

Ukraine’s air defense shoots down up to 95-97% of drones targeting civilian cities, and this happens every day.

Co-leader of the party, Tino Chrupalla, argued that Germany should no longer be drawn into international conflicts and must chart a more independent foreign policy course.

Former Centcom commander: US military has been working on Iran ground raid plans for years

Retired Gen. Frank McKenzie, the former commander of U.S. Central Command (Centcom), said Sunday that the U.S. military has been working on plans for a ground raid in Iran for years, as President Trump is reportedly considering sending troops into the war.

“Margaret, for many years we’ve considered options along the southern coast of Iran, seizing islands, seizing small bases. Typically raids. And a raid is an operation with a planned withdrawal. You’re not going to stay. But some of those islands you could seize and hold. That would have a couple effects,” McKenzie told CBS News’s Margaret Brennan on “Face the Nation.”

“First of all, it would be profoundly humiliating for Iran and would give us great weight in negotiations. The second, the example of Kharg Island, which everyone talks about, if you seize Kharg Island, you really can shut down the Iranian oil economy completely. And the beauty of seizing it is, you’re not destroying it,” he said.

The Washington Post reported this weekend that the Department of Defense was preparing plans for ground operations lasting for weeks in Iran. The ground operations may involve special operations forces and regular infantry troops undertaking raids, U.S. officials told the Post.

Israeli officials say Iran's internet blackout is concealing the full extent of the damage that U.S. and Israeli strikes have delt to the Iranian regime in recent weeks.

Fox News' Trey Yingst says Iranians have spent nearly 30 days without internet access, which has been cut off by the regime in Tehran.

"700+ hours without internet in Iran," Yingst wrote in a post on X. "Israeli officials are now sounding the alarm about the ongoing blackout."

"When this blackout is lifted, the full extent of the damage to the regime will become clear," a senior Israeli intelligence official told Fox News.

USS Tripoli, embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit arrive in Middle East

U.S. Marines and sailors assigned to the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group arrived in U.S. Central Command waters on Friday, the command announced.

The group, led by the America-class amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli, departed earlier this month from its homeport of Sasebo, Japan. Also included in the arriving force is the embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.


The Tripoli group began steaming toward the Middle East after U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reportedly approved a CENTCOM request for additional support to help curtail Iran’s regional attacks.

Announcement of the group’s arrival comes one day after a dozen U.S. service members were wounded in an Iranian missile and drone strike on Prince Sultan Airbase in Saudi Arabia, the Wall Street Journal first reported. Two of the 12 personnel are in serious condition.

That strike, which reportedly damaged multiple U.S. refueling aircraft, comes as the U.S. military continues to pour assets into the region.

Report: Israel Will Decline to Join any Ground Operations Americans Might Launch in Iran

Israeli media reported Monday that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will not join any potential American ground operation inside Iran.

Israeli Channel 12 quoted official sources stating, “In case of a U.S. ground operation in Iran, Israeli soldiers will not be participating on the ground.”

The report says that if there were an American ground operation, only American troops would be put in harm’s way on the ground. Israel instead would provide airstrikes, intelligence sharing, and special operations support. Israel has reportedly drawn a firm red line against sending ground troops.

Trump warned Monday in a Truth Social post that if an agreement is not reached and the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened immediately, the United States would respond by  “blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!), which we have purposefully not yet ‘touched.'”

President Donald Trump suggested in a message on Monday morning that a “NEW, AND MORE REASONABLE, REGIME” has taken over Iran and is talking to Washington – but warned he was willing to “obliterate” Iran’s energy infrastructure if talks did not lead to a durable agreement.

Trump made the declaration in a message on his website, Truth Social. What remains of the Iranian government after the elimination of “supreme leader” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has repeatedly denied Trump’s claims that it is in conversation with the American government, while also stating that it has responded to American proposals, which would be impossible without a conversation.

It remains unclear exactly who is running the Iranian government as the man claimed to have succeeded Khamenei, his son Mojtaba, has made no public appearances or given any concrete indications that he is in charge. The disconnect between comments from the Iranian Foreign Ministry and the terrorist Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has also raised questions about the ability of Tehran to engage in talks.

In his statement on Monday, Trump suggested that, not only is America pursuing regime change in Iran, but that regime change had already happened.

“The United States of America is in serious discussions with A NEW, AND MORE REASONABLE, REGIME to end our Military Operations in Iran,” Trump wrote. He followed up this comment with a threat.

“Great progress has been made but, if for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately ‘Open for Business,'” he continued, “we will conclude our lovely ‘stay’ in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!), which we have purposefully not yet ‘touched.'”

“This will be in retribution for our many soldiers, and others, that Iran has butchered and killed over the old Regime’s 47 year ‘Reign of Terror.’ Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he added.

Overtaking/occupying Kharg Island seems to be the best case scenario though it would take boots on the ground and having them in place for a long time.   

Is there any other scenario with a better outcome?  Destroying Kharg Island would be a disaster.

I'm going by what the retired general said upthread and Trump's reluctance to destroy Kharg Island and rightfully so.

Iranian plans to hide cruise and ballistic missiles, and marine raiding parties aboard warships disguised as oil tankers or container ships to raid commerce well away from its own waters has been disrupted by U.S. strikes, a report states.

Gulf allies have been briefed by American and Israeli officers on the operation to wipe out Iran’s force of “adapted and disguised” container and oil tanker ships as part of Operation Epic fury, hearing how U.S. strikes “destroyed five Iranian warships that were disguised as container vessels”, a report in The Times of London states.

While the destruction of most of the ships named in this alleged briefing was already in the public domain — the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has been active in briefing on its campaign of destruction against now hundreds of Iranian warships of all sizes — this may be the first time a specific mission to take out Iran’s grey fleet of converted civilian ships as a priority has been publicly spoken of.
