Trump throws down gauntlet over TSA funding amid airport chaos and reveals he won't cut a deal until SAVE act is passed as ICE prepares to deploy at airports on MondayDaily MailBy MELISSA KOENIG22 March 2026President Donald Trump issued a challenge to Democrats seeking to restore funding to the Transportation Security Administration, by saying he will not cut a deal without approval of his Save America Act.He noted that Democrats want to make a deal to fund the TSA amid massive lines at airports across the nation, even as they withhold funding from the rest of the Department of Homeland Security over disagreements about the role of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and US Border Patrol.But Trump said he does not 'think any deal should be made on this until they approve SAVE America,' he told NewsNation's DC correspondent Hannah Brandt. The bill would require voter ID and proof of citizenship to vote in elections; ban mail-in voting except for the military and in cases of illness, disability or travel; ban transgender females from playing in women's sports and ban gender-affirming surgeries for minors. A 'watered-down version,' passed by the House of Representatives, does not include bans on biological men playing in women's sports, or anything to prevent minors from undergoing transgender surgeries. While the bill remains stalled in the Senate, Trump has said he will deploy ICE agents to the airports to help out understaffed TSA agents. 'On Monday, ICE will be going to airports to help our wonderful TSA Agents who have stayed on the job, despite the fact that the Radical Left Democrats, who are only focused on protecting hardline criminals who have entered our Country illegally, are endangering the USA by holding back the money that was long ago agreed to with signed and sealed contracts, and all,' he posted to his Truth Social platform Sunday morning. 'But watch, no matter how great a job ICE does, the Lunatics leading the incompetent Dems will be highly critical of their work,' he continued, arguing 'THEY WILL DO A GREAT JOB.'
