Candle in Havana – Chronicles of a Dying City

The Last Wire

This is my final entry in the Candle in Havana series... one last candle.

The regime is losing its grip.

The grid has collapsed. The streets are filled. The people are no longer whispering... they are shouting “LIBERTAD!”

For decades, Cuba has been a warning. Now it’s becoming something else.

The system is cracking in real time.

The question is no longer if something changes...

It’s what rises when it does.

History may be turning on this moment.

VIVA CUBA LIBRE!

If you don't already know, Cubans are among the best people in the world. Pray for them and for their freedom.  :patriot:
"If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people."    -Calvin Coolidge

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
