Sounds like a personal issue that should be resolved behind closed doors, not out in public.

Well, I agree with Paul on this one, unpopular as that opinion may be, because Mullin comes across as an ignorant thug and a bully. Further, his nomination to DHS feels like a shady move engineered by Thune and Cornyn to rid the Senate of him by kicking him "upstairs" to DHS, where he'll self-destruct or flame out soon enough if confirmed.

Personally I'm not all that impressed with Mullin.  He made a fortune from his family plumbing business (?) He then campaigned on being a rancher ....???  Something just strikes me as off with this guy.

In 2012, Mullin reported between $200,000 and $2 million in income from two family companies, and another $15,000 to $50,000 from shares he held in a bank. By the end of 2021, his reported assets had increased to between $31.6 million and $75.6 million.  The increase was from the sale of his plumbing-related companies to HomeTown Services. Mullin said the sale happened in early 2021, while he was serving in the House of Representatives.

IMHO Trump has made a mistake letting Noem go, and tapping Mullin for Secy of DHS. 

As for Rand ... he has every right to his opinion of this guy.  There is a reason why they hold hearings.

Rand Paul is a medical doctor (M.D.), having graduated from Duke University School of Medicine in 1988.  He completed a residency in ophthalmology and worked as a practicing eye surgeon in Bowling Green, Kentucky, for 17 years before entering politics.

Rand Paul specialized in ophthalmology, performing cataract and glaucoma surgeries, LASIK procedures, and corneal transplants.

Mullin's "stand your butt up" moment revealed more about him than we suspected. I would never have thought that he'd make excuses for Paul's neighbor who violently attacked him, leaving him with very serious injuries. Also, I'm puzzled as to why so many on this thread seem to be okay with it. :thud: All Mullin had to do was apologize for using bad judgment in a heated moment. That would be an adult thing to do. He couldn't bring himself to do that? There aren't enough physical attacks on political opponents already without encouraging more?? :shrug: Paul would have nothing to beef about had he just done that.

I'll have to rethink my estimation of Mullin.

I haven't been all that impressed by Mullin and even less impressed now.

Ron used to be my congresscritter. He had his moments, but I think Rand has him beat.




Listen, y'all. My defense of his position in this thing between him and Mullin isn't putting my stamp of approval on his cantankerous ways. He can definitely be a pill. But he never deserved to be attacked, and that should go without saying.

Yeah, but I have to admit, I'm not ready for American Government to decay into some sort of Celebrity Death Match. That may have been a fun cartoon, but not so in real life. Cooler heads should prevail, and with anger comes mistakes.
