This season's vaccines were around 25% to 30% effective in preventing adults from getting sick enough from the flu that they had to go to a doctor’s office, clinic or hospital, according to a CDC report this week.

(excerpt)

25% - 30% is pretty low efficacy to take a risk with the vaccine.  I've gotten one flu shot in my life and got very sick.  I went to the docs and he prescribed Tamiflu; I was never so sick in my entire life.   No thank you.  Never again.
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

This is not surprising. I got the flu this winter for the first time in decades (I've never been vaccinated), and got over it in a week or so without any prescription drugs.

One of my biggest annoyances is the constant barrage of people reminding me to get a flu shot. Not only my doctor but I get robocalls on the phone.  9999hair out0000

I'm thinking about having a t-shirt made that says "I don't do flu shots So shut up and you might want to stay away from me."

You would get the benefit of people staying away from you!  I want that shirt!

CDC: Little-Known Virus With No Vaccine Spreading In US

The human metapneumovirus (HMPV) is spreading in the United States, including in California and the Great Lakes region, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Symptoms include cough, fever, and nasal congestion, and, unlike better-known respiratory viruses, HMPV does not have a vaccine or known treatments, the CDC stated.

I have never had a flu shot.

There are 48 possible combinations of hemagglutinin (H1, H2, H3, H5, H6, H7, H9, H10) and neuraminidase (N1, N2, N6, N7, N8, N9) that have been detected in humans. H1N1, H2N2, and H3N2 are the most common that cause sustained infections, and these subtypes H5N1, H5N6, H7N2, H7N3, H7N7, H7N9, H9N2, H10N7, and H10N8 have been known to jump from animals to humans (Zoonotic Infections).
Every year, the vaccine makers select a H and N subtype to use in the vaccine. Efficacy depends on getting the right subtype combination for maximum effectiveness, and if they miss on what is going around, efficacy suffers.
So far, I just don't get the shots, and have only had the flu once or twice since they pulled the Swine Flu Vaccine under Gerald Ford's administration.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

The way the annual cycle works is tied to the basic fact that it takes 3 or 4 months to produce and accumulate enough of the chosen vaccine combo. That means that months before flu season someone - CDC? FDA? ?? - guesstimates which flu virus variants are likely to be circulating during flu season and that is the vaccines that will be produced (starting with culturing a lot of each virus variant, then doing the inactivating, then ...). Because of the months-long gap necessary to produce enough of the combo, some years the guesstimate is reasonably correct, and some years the guesstimate is not very good. Welcome to the production time overhead of inactivated virus technology vaccines.
I am not and never have been a leftist.

If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.

:silly:  My doctor's nurse has the audacity to just randomly schedule appointments for medical tests that I told her several times I don't want.  I need a similar t-shirt -- "just stop with the nonsense and stay away from me".

I know I am not alone.  I never got the Jab.  Never a booster. My doctor recommended it.  I said no. He was a good guy. He said He had to get it to keep his job.  I felt sorry for him.

My doctor knows better than to say "flu shot" in my presence.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."
