And why I previously suggested or proposed that with DHS/FBI  help we enact some kind of Citizen Neighborhood Watch system during the heightened terror threat.  We don't need the particulars of the perps for legal and safety reasons  Just give grid coordinates to volunteers to cruise and report what they see.

I'd volunteer!!!!!

I think we all have at least one major political regret that haunts us.

Actively supporting Bush for Guv, and POTUS was mine.

Maybe don't bring 200,000 Iranian "allies" to the United States when this is over with.

I will support W. He did a good job during 9/11 (his second term sucked). When he made the comment about Islam being peace, as I recall, a lot of people were going around attacking anyone that looked middle eastern. Buddhists, Hindus. etc. One of the stores I used to frequent during that time was owned/operated by an Indian family. One time while there, a couple of "customers" verbally assaulted the owner. My 5 foot 2 inch mouth defended him...and I'm sure these "customers" wanted to whup up on me. I have always felt like W was just trying to calm the situation down.

I do think that the Muslims have become more volatile since that time. But how could we have prevented that from happening? So many are hidden in the country...and worse...many are citizens.

"I do think that the Muslims have become more volatile since that time."

NO!
Nothing has changed!
They've always been the same.
They are muslims, and islam is the unchangeable word of the prophet muhammed.
There are more of them here now, so they're more visible.
But underneath, they are THE SAME as before.

Remember:
"Every 'moderate' Muslim is a potential terrorist. The belief in Islam is like a tank of gasoline. It looks innocuous, until it meets the fire. For a 'moderate' Muslim to become a murderous jihadist, all it takes is a spark of faith.
It is time to put an end to the charade of "moderate Islam." There is no such thing as moderate Muslim. Muslims are either jihadists or dormant jihadists - moderate, they are not."

I don't doubt any thing you say. But I grew up in the 50s and 60s. Noone even thought about Islam then. It's recent, imho.

Really? I've been thinking about it since 1979.  I knew Iran was trouble since then.  Longer than I've lived in Phoenix.

I remember those drills where we had to get under our desk .... yes .... quite ridiculous.  Back then, I was too young to realize that it wasn't logical in the least.
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

Of course they are. You can walk away from other religions, but apostasy in Islam is punishable by death.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
