Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo Removed From Rodeo Concert

Texas Scorecard by Michael Wilson March 12, 2026

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo was asked to leave NRG Stadium after attempting to enter a $425 premium section without a ticket and refusing to comply when directed back to her assigned seating.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo was removed from NRG Stadium during the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s sold-out Megan Moroney concert Tuesday night after attempting to access a ticketed area without the required credentials and refusing repeated requests to return to her assigned seat.

According to HLSR, Hidalgo and several guests attempted to enter the dirt area, a premium floor section requiring a chute seat ticket priced at $425, without valid passes. Rodeo officials said the group was directed back to their ticketed seating in the county suite. A RodeoHouston source told KPRC2 that officials asked Hidalgo multiple times to return to the suite before asking her to leave the stadium altogether when she refused.

Hidalgo claimed in a since-deleted Facebook post and in a formal two-page letter sent to HLSR leadership that she was physically shoved, grabbed, and threatened with arrest by rodeo committee members. She said that by virtue of her position as county judge she serves as an “Ex Officio Director” of the rodeo and had always been permitted on the dirt floor without a wristband or special pass.

John Presley, identified by Hidalgo as the head of security for HLSR, personally escorted her out of the stadium and to her vehicle. Following the incident, Hidalgo posted multiple videos and audio recordings to Facebook, which she described as “receipts” of what occurred.

Texas judge who tried to access VIP area at Houston rodeo concert claims racism, sexism at play

Fox News By Louis Casiano 3/12/2026

A Texas judge said she was manhandled while attending a concert at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo this week after staffers refused to let her access a VIP area and escorted her out of the venue. The judge questioned whether she was the victim of racism or sexism despite being given $9,000 in freebies.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said she and five guests — another elected official, the official's children and the parents of a U.S. Air Force sergeant who recently died — attended a Megan Moroney concert at the popular rodeo show Tuesday.

However, the group was barred from the venue's premium floor access area — the ticket area known as "the dirt" — because they had not paid the $425 per head price tag for wristbands and the show was sold out, the rodeo said in response to a Fox News Digital request for comment.

Hildalgo said she had previously been allowed on the floor access area without a wristband "based on the county's relationship with the rodeo." She said she assumed the area was "friends of rodeo leaders or for rodeo leaders or such."

The judge said she then asked if her guests could be let into the area before she was grabbed, shoved and threatened with arrest.

"I understand the rodeo committee members have a job to do," Hidalgo wrote in a scathing letter to rodeo board Chairwoman Pat Phillips and rodeo President Chris Boleman.

I wonder if she played the race card.  Why Yes, yes she did!    Color me shocked.
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

Political photo-op in the guise of a Rosa Parks moment.

I don't think I have entered within the 610 loop in almost 20 years.  Don't plan to start either.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.  Note:  Posts may also be allegorical in nature, and not literal.
