BROWNSVILLE, Texas — President Donald Trump announced plans to open the first oil refinery in the United States in 50 years, and it’s in Brownsville, Texas, according to a Truth Social post.

Trump stated that the project, which is a $300 billion deal funded with the help of Indian multinational conglomerate Reliance Industries, will expand American jobs along with other economic prospects.

“It is because of our America First Agenda, streamlining Permits, and lowering Taxes, that have attracted Billions of Dollars in Deals coming back to our Nation,” Trump said. “A new Refinery at the Port of Brownsville, will fuel U.S. Markets, strengthen our National Security, boost American Energy production, deliver Billions of Dollars in Economic impact, and will be THE CLEANEST REFINERY IN THE WORLD.”

More details on the project and the opening date are not available, but more announcements are expected soon.

Awesomeness!  Winning!    888high58888

This needs to happen sooner rather than later.
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
I'd like to see more refineries set up to process 30-35 gravity sweet crude, too.

So how will these refined products be distributed to the US market? Tanker? Rail? Or is there a pipeline? Just curious why that location was chosen and the necessary logistics.

Kind of sad that it was granted to an Indian Consortium, instead of the likes of Chevron, Exxon, or Valero.

Here is a few more detailes....

A new hydrogen-powered refinery is being developed at the Port of Brownsville, Texas, by Element Fuels Holdings, which aims to produce over 160,000 barrels per day of low-carbon fuels. The project, expected to cost between $3 to $4 billion, is anticipated to be operational by 2027 and will significantly reduce carbon emissions during the refining process.

160K bbl refinery is pretty small.  And low emissions?  I'd really like to see the P & Id's and process manuals.   9'0 Clean air act reauthorization pretty much regulatory dictates leakless technology where feasible anyway

What are "low carbon fuels"? (bitcoin?)

Thought that was strange too.

Hydrogen?  I guess maybe Methane, if you look at the BTU ratio to C (1)  1030 BTU/SCF.

Not standard liquid (at STP) motor fuels, I'd wager.

All that's very nice, but my ride won't run off it as currently configured.
