It is a stretch of ground that has been bled over by many tribes, many religions.
Sure, there can be a permanent peace, and those who would have paved it with radioactive glass were going to seek it.
But the reality is, that like most of the Earth, some detente, some manner of getting along, can be achieved, so long as the parties there are willing to allow that.
Will this war bring a permanent peace? Sadly, no. But, for a time, it may bring a hiatus to the terrorism, the senseless waste of resources burned to kill each other that could instead be applied to bring all the greatness we have been assured the peoples there are capable of.
We've had a half century of killing, and those primary actors are known, sowing the wind, now reaping the whirlwind.
Perhaps, after the storm, there can be a half century of quiet.
