While Democrats in Maine are busy nominating someone with a Nazi sympathizer problem, Texas Democrats have already settled on their own gift to Republican opposition researchers: a state representative whose old Facebook posts are raising some very uncomfortable questions about how he conducted himself around children.

Talarico, who won the Democratic nomination for the Senate earlier this year, has made his time as a Teach For America middle school teacher a key part of his political identity. He talks about it constantly — fighting for school funding, mental health resources, working families, yada, yada, yada. The classroom, in his telling, is where his moral authority was forged. So his old social media activity from those teaching days is certainly relevant.

And apparently, kinda creepy.

The RNC flagged several Facebook posts from Talarico's time teaching sixth-grade language arts in San Antonio. One 2012 post announced, "Looking forward to spending my birthday with the 6th grade boys at UT tomorrow!" A commenter apparently thought he should have reread that before hitting publish. Hard to argue with that. When you're a grown man posting publicly about spending your birthday with middle school boys, maybe have someone proofread that first.

James Dell Causey was born on May 17, 1989, in Round Rock, Texas, to Tamara Causey, a single mother.[3] She later married Mark Talarico, who adopted James and his sister.[8]

But with my own research I was able to find that the Texas Birth Records indicate that James was born on May 17, 1989 in Williamson County to Tamara Lynne Causey and Mark Alex Talirico.  If he was the biological father, then why did he have to adopt him?

I think the reason is that Talarico's mother divorced a Curtis Fox on December 21, 1989, 5 months before James' birth.  Again, all in public record.  But again, why would he have to have adopted him.

I understand how families can be messy, and i have no problem with this.  but I wonder why they lied to Media?

I don't see any contradictions in what you found.

My late husband's parents divorced and his mom remarried a few years later. Her new husband adopted the children, and a new birth certificate was issued with his new last name and his "new" dad is on the birth certificate just as if he was there on day one.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton absolutely trounced Senator John Cornyn in last night's Texas runoff election. Paxton won with just over 63 percent of the vote, and he will go on to face Democrat James Talarico in the general election this fall.

Talarico is a radical Leftist and pastor who uses his twisted version of Christianity as the basis of his politics. He believes God is non-binary and that displaying the Ten Commandments in public is an act of violence. He also believes the Bible condones abortion.

Wednesday on MS NOW’s “Ana Cabrera Reports,” Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) said U.S. Senate candidate state Rep. James Talarico (D) will “mobilize a majority” to win his election.

Cabrera said, “I want to ask about last night’s Republican Senate primary in Texas, with incumbent Senator John Cornyn coming in a distant second place to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. And polls show Paxton neck and neck. Now with Democratic candidate James Talarico. Do you believe the party should invest time and resources in Texas when I know there are some tighter races in states that are more blue?”

Democratic Texas Senate nominee James Talarico attempted to pivot away from his past controversial comments on Wednesday after securing his party’s nomination for the November election.

Talarico said in 2021 that God was “non-binary” and that trans children were made in His image. The nominee told CBS News’ Ed O’Keefe that he regrets some of his “intentionally provocative” statements, though he criticized Republican Texas Senate nominee Ken Paxton for clipping his “cringey” moments.

“Well, you know, I think I was being intentionally provocative with that statement. But what it means is that God can’t be defined by human categories,” Talarico told O’Keefe. “The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Galatians, says that in Christ there is neither male nor female. I’m always going to stand up for Texans who are being picked on by the most powerful, most corrupt politicians in the country … There are some statements that I’ve made that I certainly regret. There are statements that I’ve made where I’ve missed the mark.”

“But Ken Paxton is intentionally clipping my cringey comments to distract from his career of corruption. Ken Paxton has a criminal record. I have a legislative record. I’ve served for four terms in the Texas House of Representatives, where I brought Democrats and independents together to actually make progress for people,” Talarico continued.

After cruising to the Democrat nomination for U.S. Senate in March, James Talarico now appears focused on a different challenge: convincing Texas general election voters he is more moderate than the progressive activist Republicans have spent years watching online.

Republicans are already framing the effort as a “moderate media makeover” ahead of what is expected to become the most expensive Senate race in U.S. history.

During an interview with CBS News the day after Paxton won the Republican Senate runoff, officially setting the general-election matchup, Talarico was asked about his assertion that there are six genders and a 2021 statement in which he said, “God is non-binary.”

“What did you mean by that?” the interviewer asked. “Do you regret describing it that way?”

“God can’t be defined by human categories,” replied Talarico. “There are some statements I’ve made that I regret. Ken Paxton is intentionally clipping my cringey comments.”

Talarico’s latest acknowledgment that he regrets some past statements comes as he has increasingly softened or reframed previous comments on gender ideology, gun control, climate activism, and energy policy.

In one recent appearance on the Texas Take podcast, Talarico attempted to downplay his past support for gun control measures, insisting that “I’m not interested in taking anyone’s guns.”

Republicans quickly pointed to prior comments and legislation they argue tell a different story.
