House Oversight Committee concludes Tim Walz' administration knew of fraud, failed to act

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s administration was made aware of fraud in benefits programs early in his tenure, but failed to take action to stop it, an interim report based on testimony from nine state officials concluded.

Senior Minnesota government officials, including Gov. Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison, were aware of claims of widespread fraud in the state’s federally funded welfare programs for years, but failed to act other than to retaliate against whistleblowers, the House Oversight Committee concluded in a report released Wednesday.

Both Walz and Ellison are scheduled to testify before the committee on Wednesday at 10:00 AM, the committee previously announced. They are likely to face questions from the committee about fraud schemes estimated to have cost taxpayers as much as $18 billion and that were first reported by Just the News in summer 2024.

Dozens of defendants, many of them Somali immigrants who settled in Minnesota, have been indicted or convicted in a sweeping federal fraud investigation.

And Walz is the guy democrats wanted to be VP?  I've long maintained any politician who abuses the public trust, and he did, should spend 50 years in prison with no possibility of parole. :jail:

GOP Congress needs to rewrite state grant legislation and authorizations to reimburse independently audited receipts.  Throwing money at states without any fiscal controls is stoopid.

Why would there ever be any more money going to the state until it has been proven that fraud has been curtailed?

So far, every House Oversight Committee Democrat has wanted to talk about ICE instead of the Minnesota fraud scandal, despite fraud being the topic of the hearing.

Committee Republicans have been largely trying to pin down Gov. Walz & AG Ellison on what/when they knew re: fraud

Congressman Maxwell Frost (D-FL) now asking the Dems' witness if Jesus would have had his family split apart by ICE.

She suggests he may have. She also said earlier her 8-year-old struggles to sleep at night due to fear of ICE.

This hearing is supposed to be about MN fraud.

I disagree. I watched some of that hearing this morning and from what I saw Walz definitely did not fail to act.

It is abundantly clear that he acted to perpetuate the fraud.

If just 10% of the fraud was coming back around, Kamala picked Tampon Timmy because the bicoastals thought they could sell him as a regular Middle America guy, and for the $900,000,000 he could bring in through the networks of LLCs and NGOs and PACs that had been skimmed off the Somali fraud machine.
