I've posted this before, will repeat:
No agreement can or should be made with the Republican Guards... they are toadies of the mullahs.
No agreement with the mullahs... the preferred action would be to kill ALL of them, wherever found.
And the Basij must be neutralized, as well. At the very least, sent packing into hiding. Preferably chase them out of the country (how about Afghanistan?).
If the regime is to be "changed", I see the key to be turning the "regular" Iranian army against the Republican Guard and the Basij.
Doesn't the regular army there far outnumber the RG's?
Once the RG's are gone, at the very least have the regular army declare that the reign of the mullahs is over, that there will be no "supreme leader", and that a civilian government will be restored to power when things get settled again.
But if Mr. Trump still believes he can reach a "negotiated" agreement with either the Republican Guard leadership or the mullahs, he is going to be VERY disappointed at the outcome. It won't be a good one, not for America, for Israel, or for the rest of the Arab world.
And also...
Seizing Kharg Island is A MUST.
We must take control of the island and hold it like a sword of Damocles over iran's head.
iran will still be able to ship and get revenue for its oil, but only so long as they comply with our terms.
Taking those "other" islands (two or three of them) and then trying to use them as "leverage" isn't going to work. Kharg is where the money is. That's the one that counts.
