🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 U.S. intel claims Iran has started dropping naval mines into the Strait of Hormuz because apparently missiles, drones, and regional chaos weren’t enough drama for 2026.

Only a few dozen mines are confirmed so far… but that’s the appetizer.

Analysts say Iran has thousands more ready to go, enough to turn the strait into a long-term maritime death maze.

Clearing it could take months, and that’s if no one’s shooting during the process.

It is the trade off between speed and maneuverability, and capacity and speed.
The A10's are fast, but the boats are more maneuverable is tight quarters. The A10's have more munitions, but can only go so slow for targeting purposes.

An elite counterterrorism unit has been deployed to protect Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, following the assassination of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Fox News Digital has learned.

The force, known as NOPO — Iran’s black-clad Counterterrorism Special Force — was assigned to safeguard the leader after a U.S.-Israel strike on a Tehran compound on Feb. 28 killed the elder Khamenei amid the start of Operation Epic Fury.

"With Khamenei gone, NOPO will now be protecting Mojtaba Khamenei," Ali Safavi, an official with the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Paris-based National Council of Resistance of Iran, or NCRI said.

The force, formed in 1991, was initially the "nucleus" of the IRGC’s 28th Ruhollah (Khomeini’s first name) Division, according to Safavi, and typically handles hostage rescue operations.

The history of the unit also includes deployments against internal security threats, and it has often been called on to suppress protests.

Iran’s Assembly of Experts elected Mojtaba Khamenei on March 8, 2026, elevating him as the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic.

His succession comes amid ongoing war with the U.S. and Israel, but so far, Mojtaba Khamenei has not been heard from since the start of the conflict.

According to The Times of Israel, Iranian state television reported that Mojtaba Khamenei was wounded in the war, with the reports yet unconfirmed.

"NOPO is the Farsi acronym for Nirouyeh Vijeh Pasdaran Velayat, which translates into the Special Force to Protect the Supreme Leader," Safavi further explained.

The use of widely condemned munitions against Israel was reported after a “very well coordinated” strike, indicating a terrorist proxy of Iran has “fully joined the war.”

Nearly two weeks after Operation Epic Fury and Operation Roaring Lion (the joint U.S.-Israeli strikes against Iran) began, the conflict continues to rage throughout the Middle East. Tuesday, this included reports that Hezbollah was coordinating with Iran for their own attacks against Israel that included the use of cluster munitions.

“Hezbollah has fully joined the war, and it looks like they are now very well coordinated with Iran,” Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) senior researcher Kobi Michael told Fox News Digital from Tel Aviv. “Most of Hezbollah’s rockets and drones are launched simultaneously with the Iranian missiles.”

“The Iranian use of cluster missiles and the idea that they deliberately target civilians and civil facilities must be considered as a use of non-conventional weapons, and the American-Israeli response must be appropriate,” he went on about the escalation in the conflict.

Actually it would only take a week or two at most to take care of the mines. Drones can set up a search grid  and use the ARC system to pinpoint their location. Once that is done they can set up routes to either clear the mines or navigate around them.

US military wipes out entire class of Iranian warships

U.S. Central Command Commander Adm. Brad Cooper said Wednesday that American forces operating in the Middle East have taken out "the last of four Soleimani-class warships -- that's an entire class of Iranian ships now out of the fight."

"To date, we have struck more than 5,500 targets inside Iran, including more than 60 ships using a variety of precision weapons systems. Just yesterday, we had strike waves nearly every hours from different locations and directions going into Iran," Cooper said in a video posted to X.

"U.S. combat power is building, Iranian combat power is declining," Cooper said. "Every day we are striking hard at Iranian ballistic missiles and drones."

Cooper added that he continues to "be impressed with all the branches of the U.S. military."

"The entire team is performing superbly. Strike operations from our Joint Force continue as I've said. I assess that we are clearly exercising air superiority over vast swaths of Iran," Cooper said.
