Actually it's a bit like "window", dumping bomber loads of foil strips to mess with German RADARs in WWII. Just updated, and with specific targets to hunt. They could even have a charge on board in case they were intercepted to prevent capture.

Oh crap!!!  We get paid usually $2 under WTI and they average it for the month.  You'll see every tank that has a drop of oil in it sold within the next few days.  If you see gas hit $4 in flyover country people will start screaming bloody murder.

Maybe we should at least wait until the market opens tomorrow before we cry about the sky falling.  There will be a glut of sellers loading up tankers tomorrow for that price.   Meanwhile, US refineries (which is where gasoline comes from) continue to work on longer-term contracts.
